Catholic school board okays finance report
stated William J. Gartland, CDSBEO educa- tion director. “One such goal includes fiscal responsibility, and we strive to maintain this priority as we deliver curriculum to our stu- dents. These statements demonstrate that those efforts are producing results.” “The report demonstrates that the board continues to maintain financial account- ability,” stated Brent Laton, CDSBEO chair-
man, “and keeping our students’ best inter- ests as a priority.” The 2011-2012 CDSBEO financial state- ments now go to the Education Ministry for final review and approval. Results in the financial report reflect some of the planning changes forced on the board by Bill 115, the provincial govern- ment’s Putting the Students First Act, which
requires both school boards and school unions to accept wage and expense freezes and other cost-control measures. The CDSBEO and its unions have worked out agreements to meet those limitations. Other school boards, like the Upper Canada District School Board, are at loggerheads right now with its unions over the limita- tions imposed through Bill 115.

Temporary “no parking” snow removal signs are posted when crews have to work in some areas during the day. Violaters of these notices are ticketed and their vehicles towed to the nearest open street. This condition applies even to vehicles with legal on-street park- ing permits. Ottawa | As of mid-November overnight parking on the street may not be allowed in some or all areas of the City of Ottawa if the weather turns foul. Municipal overnight parking regulations for winter take effect Nov. 15. The rules guarantee that the snow removal crews have to deal with few or no obstacles as they work during the night to clear roads and sidewalks of snow. Under the winter overnight parking reg- ulations, during the period from Nov. 15 to April 1, if the weather forecast calls for snowfall of seven centimetres or more dur- ing the day or night, then overnight park- ing is not allowed on city streets between the hours of 1 to 7 a.m. This also includes weather forecasts where a range of snowfall is given, such as five to 10 centimetres as an example. Any vehicles found parked overnight on city streets when the restriction is in effect will be ticketed. This applies even if there is no snow. Exceptions may apply for vehicle owners with a municipal on-street parking permit displayed on their vehicle. Kemptville | The account books look good for the Catholic school board. The Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario (CDSBEO) enjoyed reading some good during its Nov. 6 regular meet- ing. The final financial statements for the past term came with a good passing grade from the auditor. “The board continues to be diligent in attaining the goals of our strategic plan,” Winter parking rules apply
