The in dw e llin g presence of Christ is what makes life victorious. It is our hope of glory (vrs. 27). Think of the possibility — the Cre ator and Sustainer of the universe wants to live and dwell in us. The Lord is involved in reconcil ing all things unto Himself (vrs. 20). The world is at odds with God and conditions all around us are disrupted and impoverished. There is no peace in the world. The only hope is that perfect peace which Christ has made through the blood of His cross. The Lord has a great prospect for us. What a great heritage to be translated by faith into the king dom of God's dear Son. No won der He has every right to main tain authority over all creation. He alone could hold the whole uni verse together. As we look to the future there is much to anticipate. While the Lord Jesus wants the preeminence in the universe most of all He seeks the preeminence in your life and mine. The Lord wants to fel lowship with us and to have us commune with Him. the kingdom of His dear Son (vrs. 13). What a transformation to be snatched from the power of dark ness. Christ is actually "the image of the invisible God. He is the One who has created all things (vrs. 15- 17). Our Saviour is not a picture of God, He is God made manifest in the flesh. Because of this He has a special authority over every creation. In verse 17 the word "consist" literally means that by Him all things cohere into a sys tem. He holds everything together. As He is head of physical crea tion, He is also the head of the body — the Church. He has the right of sovereign rule over the spiritual creation. For this reason we should make sure that He has the preeminence in all things. ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■
