The ideal location for a new gymnasium addition to Len- fest seemed to be above and adjacent to classrooms on a roof plaza overlooking Benjamin Franklin Court, a historic site near IndependenceHall, but the noise would be too distracting. The sound issues were solved by installing a spring floor system in the gym and replac- ing the standard glazing with sound-proof recording studio windows. The classrooms still receive natural light through the new addition’s windows and skylights.
