shalt not tempt the Lord thy God” (Lk. 4:12). Did you notice how each time Jesus quoted something from the Bible? To day, as in Jesus’ day, the best way to defeat Satan is with the Word of God. The Psalmist said, "Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee” (Psa. 119:11). If he needed to do that, don’t you think we need to do it, too? « I* ■M-X

behind me, Satan’.’’ The next day the l i t t l e boy was caught picking ber ries a g a i n. His mother asked him whether he had for gotten w h a t she told him. He said, “No, Mother, b u t when I said, ‘G et: t h e e behind me,

Satan,’ he did—and pushed me right into the bush!" I think that little boy was just looking for an excuse to cover up his naughtiness, don’t you? But it is just like Satan to push us into temp tation if we will let him. LESSON STORY: Even the Lord Jesus was tempted, but He never did wrong. Satan came to Him when He was hungry and tempted Him to turn stones into bread, but Jesus answered, “It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone!’ (Lk. 4:4). Then Satan came and offered Him the kingdoms of the world if He would only worship him, but Jesus answered: “Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve!’ (Lk. 4:8). Notice He did not stop With “Get thee behind me, Satan" as the little boy did, but He went on and gave Scrip ture. The third time Satan came to Him. This time he took Jesus up on a pinnacle of the temple arid said, “If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence” (Lk. 4:9). But Jesus answered, “It is said, Thou

OBJECTS: Two triangles. (Cut one from tin and the other from silver- colored paper. Each side should be 6 inches long.) LESSON: .This tin triangle reminds us of "certain things concerning -the Lord Jesus Christ. In Hebrews 4:15, R.V., we read, “For we have . . . one that hath been in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin." Just as this triangle has three points, so the Lord Jesus was tempted in three points. All temptation is in one of three classes. “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but. is of the world" (1 John 2:16). It would not be possible for us to tear off one of the points of this triangle. Neither was it possible for Satan to cause Christ to sin. The temp tation of the Lord Jesus was a testing which showed Him to be the Son of God, the sinless One. Here is another triangle. It looks bright, but I am sorry to say that with a very little effort any one of its points could be torn off. [Tear slightly, but do not pull the tip off.] It reminds me of a Christian standing alone. No one is capable of resisting Satan by himself. The secret of the Christian’s success is in keeping close to Christ. As I put the paper triangle close to the tin triangle, it cannot be torn. .W e « are reminded of the words found in He brews 2:18, “For in that he himself hath suffered being tempted, he is. able to succor them thab. are tempted.” [Shift the position of the triangles to make a six-pointed star.] Look, we now have a star. As the stars give hope and guidance to travelers, so a Christian kept by Christ will be an encouragement to those who journey through life, desiring to be kept from temptattou
