YOUTH ACTIVITIES COMMITTEE
CAPT EVA S. DOMOTORFFY, NC, USN, RET., CHAIR The Army Navy Country Club’s youth population stands at close to 2,000 resident family members from infants to teenagers. Youth Activities is the multi-disciplinary team which develops and executes the club experiences for this generation of members. Needless to say, such a large population with a broad range of ages and interests requires numerous varied and creative programs. Throughout 2024/25, the dedicated team of ANCC professionals and committee members embraced the challenge and delivered an array of programs and activities that were second to none! Recent realignment and reorganization created a combined Aquatics and Youth Program under the dynamic leadership of AGM Ms. Wendy Wilson. Aquatics and Youth Programs have always been closely linked due to the shared physical setting, similar population and overlapping activities. The new organizational structure further strengthened this relationship and expanded opportunities for collaboration and resource sharing, resulting in additional offerings and a more seamless member experience with regards to communication and scheduling. Heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Sheila Chandler, our long-time Youth Activities Manager, who reached a 20-year employment milestone at ANCC this year. She remains the backbone of our junior activities program and a pervasive presence both behind the scenes and on-site at every event and in every location where children’s programs take place. Ms. Sheila’s dedication not just to processes and programs, but to the individual well-being and development of every child is truly noteworthy. Another critical team member, Mr. Andrew Welch, Director of Clubhouse Operations, provided consistent support and harnessed the creativity of his House and Entertainment team to provide memorable youth and family events throughout the year, especially during holidays. Recognition and thanks are also due to the Director of Junior Golf Programs, Mr. Jimmy Kowalski (who reached a 20-year ANCC milestone this year), and Mr. Greg Paukstis, our long-standing Director of Junior Tennis Programs. Their professionalism and dedication are reflected in the outstanding experiences and outcomes achieved by the golf and tennis program participants and teams. Special thanks also goes to the members of the Youth Activities Committee – COL Megan Moakler, MAJ Hampton Tignor, LtCol (Ret) James Thorne, LtCol (Ret) Gregg Kendrick, LtCol (Ret) Pete McAleer, Ms. Jessica Harris and Mr. TJ Wilson. They provided invaluable member insight and generated ideas and deliverables that greatly enhanced offerings for youth and families across the Club. Junior and family events such as etiquette classes, dances, family parties, and bingo/trivia/magic show evenings were scheduled throughout the calendar year and with multiple iterations for high- demand events, allowing for member flexibility and increased attendance opportunities.
