DIRECTIONS: In a medium saucepan, whisk together the egg yolk and sugar until al light lemon yellow, about 2 minutes. In a small saucepan, bring the milk to a boil. Whisking constantly, slowly pour the boiling milk into the egg mixture, then cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until thick enough to coat the back of a spoon, 3-4 minutes. Place the chocolate in a heatproof bowl and set over (not touching) barely simmering water in a saucepan. Slowly pour the hot milk mixture over the chocolate and stir until the chocolate melts, about 2 minutes. Add the butter and continue to stir until the mixture is creamy, 1-2 minutes. Remove from the heat and stir in the orange liqueur. Pour the mixture into 2 loaf pans, each 15 cm (6 inches) long and 8 cm (3 1/4 inches) wide. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate until quite firm, at least 12 hours or for up to 24 hours. To unmold, immerse the bottom of a pan in a basin of hot water for about 30 seconds. Slide a knife along the inside edge of the pan and invert a serving plate on top. Holding the plate and the pan firmly together, turn them over and lift off the pan. Repeat with the second pan. Cut into thick slices to serve. at room temperature • 60 ml (1/4 cup) orange liqueur You can dust it with cocoa powder before serving.
