white magnet. (Color the jewel box to represent a casket.) LESSON: Looking at this needle, I am reminded of the young man of Nain who died and left a widowed mother. This needle is bright and sharp, but just the same it drops into this little casket. We sometimes get the idea that a per son has to be old to die. This man was much younger than his mother, and still he died. The mother, relatives, and friends must have been sad as they took the body of the young man to the ceme tery. , Something happened on this particu lar day that had never happened among those people before. The Lord Jesus Christ, the Creator of life, met death and was Victor over it. Notice how the needle jumps out of the casket when the white magnet meets it. We are told that when Christ saw the mother, He had compassion on her and said, “Weep not.” The people who were carrying the dead body stood still when Jesus spoke to the mother. He then Luke 8:4 And when much people were gathered together, and were come to him out of every city, he spake hy a parable: 5 A sower went ont to sow his seed; and as he sowed, some fell hy the wayside; and It was trodden down, and the fowls of the air devoured It. 6 And some fell upon a rock; and as soon as It was sprung up, it withered away, be cause it lacked moisture. 7 And some fell among thorns; and the thorns sprang up with it, and choked it. 8 And other fell on good ground, and sprang up, and bare fruit a hundredfold. And when he had said these things, he cried. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. 9 And his disciples asked him, saying* What might this parable be! 10 And he said, “ Unto yon it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. 11 Now the parable is this: The seed Is the word of God. 12 Those by the wayside are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 18 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with Joy? and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away. 14 And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection. 15 But that on the good ground are they, which In an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep It, and bring forth fruit with patience. touched the bier in which the body was carried, and said, “Yoqng man, I say unto thee, Arise” (Lk. 7:14). Then we read, “And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak.” The Lord Jesus Christ had been proved stronger than death. The needle is different from the way it has been before. [Rub the head of the needle on one of the prongs of the magnet.! See, it now has a power that causes it to lift other needles. Those who have felt the power of Christ in calling them from spiritual death can be used in lifting other people from sin. Do you want His power in yonr life? Him out of every city. He knew this multitude and what their reaction to His teaching would be. The seed sown is the Word of God which is scattered promiscuously, with out thought of the character of the ground upon which it falls. All the ground has equal opportunity to bring forth fruit from the seed. Thus the gos pel is preached without regard to the state of the hearers. The sowing is widespread; everywhere the seed falls upon all sorts of ground. The' results do not depend upon any difference in the seed, but wholly upon the ground on which it falls. It Is all good seed, capable of bringing forth fruit, if the ground is good. Some of the seed falls upon hardened ground which will not permit its taking root. Some falls upon rocky ground, where the thin layer of earth is not sufficient to allow the seed to germinate. Some of the seed falls among thorns so thick as to prohibit any fruit’s coming to harvest. Some of the seed falls upon good ground and brings forth fruit.
