waters, but God will always show the pathway out if we hut lift up our eyes to Him. Revelation in Darkness "Moses drew near unto the thick darkness where God was” (Ex. 20:21). When the shades o f evening close in, . . . man, looking upward, sees in the stars and the peace of night an emblem of the deep repose of God, and his heart is kindled into adoration. The touch of darkness produces worship in the soul of man. He sees hope anchoring the soul secure and steadfast on Him who has passed within the veil. He sees patience acquiescing in the Father’s will. . . . If the memory of such departures is precious to us, must not these home- goings be precious in the sight of the Lord? The Pathway Out "Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eylids look straight before thee” (Prov. 4:25). An artist was addressing some stu dents. He pointed out that it was wrong pictorially to picture a woodland scene without a path to carry the eye out of the picture. A tangle of undergrowth and trees has a suffocating effect. Wide, trackless spaces dismay. We may be called to go through woods and deep 28. 29.
