had trouble in your home for many years. Maybe neighbors have caused trouble for you. Like David, continual ly and constantly, leave your case in die hands of his 'Lord. When Absalom rebelled against David, David made no effort to protect himself. He picked up what things he could and hurried away. He turned his home, the palace, over to the wicked son. He went weep ing up the Mount of Olives. But in the midst of such terrible sorrow, he laid down on the mountain side and slept. He didn’t keep awake all night trying to devise ways and means of getting even. He turned all of his af fairs over to the Lord, 'his Defender. He said, “I laid me down in peace and slept, for the Lord sustained me.” There is another kind of defense given to us in the New Testament. Paul had been persecuted constantly. The churches turned against him; the peo ple of God turned against him; his co worker turned against him. We never read that Paul tried to defend himself. The Lord Jesus, Himself, was accused. The Scripture says, “When he was re viled, he reviled not again. When he suffered, he threatened not, but com mitted his cause to him that judgeth righteously.”’ He assumed our guilt. That is the reason He said nothing. When they took Him to Calvary He was willingly doing it for you and for me. When the devil comes and says, “Now God is going to punish you for your sins,” turn and say, “Well look, the Lord Jesus took the punishment al ready. Scriptures teach God will not twice demand payment when Christ has borne the weight and curse for me.” Jesus paid the debt and met the need; He took the punishment and bore the wrath of God upon His head and heart. May each of us join the Psalmist in saying, “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” “Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD” (Psalm 27:1, 14). 22

Defense (continued) on the tree that we might have eternal life. We need to remember in all our affairs that God has. said, “Vengeance is mine. I will repay.” When someone hurts or mistreats you, don’t try to get even. When we get even with anybody it means we must get down as low as they are; we become like them. Leave the adjusting of the problem with the VACATIONS

They say vacations set us free To visit mountains and the sea.

But some vacations are for rest; If so, then which, think you, is best?

If to look up is what we lack. The best is that upon our back.

For on our back we see far more Than walls and windows and a door; We see those stars not seen at night, And glories rare, unseen in light. Then life takes on an heavenly hue, And what seems loss is gain most true. Our best vacations, all in all Come not in summer, nor in fall; But come when folks are on their back. And learn, through friends, God's love to track. Their cards, their flowers, their calls so fine, Reveal a love like that divine. And friends who wrote and tele phoned God's kindness showed, His love in toned. — Henry E. Hodge Lord. We miist not expect that He will follow our desires, wishes and timetable. He has all knowledge and knows what is best for you and the other person. When David was being chased by King Saul, David made no effort to kill him; he left his problem in the hands of his Lord.
