Le dôme sportif du canton de Russell sera bientôt une réalité! Une des pièces maîtresse du dôme sera le « mur des fondateurs » en honneur de ceux qui ont contribué au dôme. La construction est actuellement en cours et tous lesmatériaux pour la partie du dôme devraient arriver le 6 octobre. Le premier de son genre, non seulement à Russell mais dans tout Prescott-Russell, l’établissement devait ouvrir ses portes à l’automne et permettra à tous les résidents de la région de profiter des avantages du sport et de l’exercice tout au long de l’année. —photo fournie An important centrepiece of the Sports Dome will be the Founder’s Wall, which will recognize those who have contributed to the dome. Any business that contributes $1000 or more and any individual or family that donates $500 or more to the sports dome will be enshrined on the Founder’s Wall for everyone to see as they enter the facility. “We are putting on a drive for the month of September, to ensure as many people and businesses are permanently on the Foun- der’sWall, especially for the official opening,” said Doug Anthony, the fundraising chair for the sports dome. OwnedandoperatedbyRussell Township, the sports dome will be a 60 000-square foot facility located between the villages of Embrun and Russell. It will be equipped with both artificial turf and solid flooring in order to accommodate a variety of activities and sports including football, soccer, tennis and bowling. The objective for funds raised was set at between $400,000 and $500,000 and the dome has presently raised approximately $270,000 up to this point. The fabric for the dome portion of the facility is scheduled to arrive on October 6. Anyone interested in donating can contact Doug Anthony at 613-445-6483 or at kindoug27@gmail.com.
