Two English schools boards in Eastern Ontario will begin merging the starting time for their regular school days and that will mean changes to student bus scheduling.

Michel Chrétien, emergency services director for the counties, waits to see what action the provincial health ministry will take in response to the silent running policy, now in place for Prescott-Russell ambulance units getting dispatch calls for assignments outside of their operating region. The policy is the latest tactic for the counties in dealing with the City of Ottawa’s constant demands for UCPR ambulance units to cover some of its emergencies, at the risk of leaving Prescott- Russell residents without an ambulance available when they need one. —archives
