OF FATHERHOOD CELEBRATING MY DAUGHTERS THI S JUNE THE SMALL TRIUMPHS

For Father’s Day, there’s no better gift I could ever receive than to see my three daughters live their lives with passion, finding success in the things they care about most. Luckily, I get to watch them succeed all the time, as they’re constantly trying new things and working hard to master their skills. Though I’m pretty confident their talent and drive comes mostly from their mom and not me, I still have the privilege of cheering each of them on at every turn. Before I sat down to write this, I did a lot of thinking about my proudest moments as a father. Of course, there are some big ones: locking eyes with my daughters for the first time after they came into this world, their first words, and their first steps into school and thus independence. But really, what came immediately to mind were the little victories that come with every passing day, the small moments that show me the fantastic people my kids are growing up to be. Honestly, I just enjoy watching them get into the things they enjoy. Right now, for my 13-year-old Lindsay, that means travel soccer, flying up and down the entire field in her role as defender. We’ve been watching her play for years now, but every time she makes a stellar play or a dramatic save, it’s impossible not to feel a rush of pride. And then, back at home, I get to see her take on the classic

role of big sister with my 7-year-old Natalie, consoling her when she’s upset and protecting her if she ever needs it.

Meanwhile, Natalie is just about to finish first grade and is starting to come into her own. It’s so fun to watch her little-kid curiosity as it latches onto everything around her. For sure, though, her favorite activity right now is gymnastics. She’s got a bar at home and a mat, and whenever she has a free moment, she’s out jumping on the trampoline. I’m excited to watch her as she gets more into it, learning new techniques and finding new challenges to conquer. Then there’s my middle daughter, 11-year-old Paige, who is all about singing. Just last month, she was one of four kids from her school selected to be in the All-County Chorus, a choir for some of the most talented young vocalists from the area. I have to admit that I got a little sappy listening to her belt it out up there alongside a couple of her closest friends. One of my biggest priorities as a dad is to raise my daughters into strong and confident women. Of course, with my wife Karen at the helm, they’ve got about the best role model I could ever imagine. Though it takes time to run a small business, I make sure to be there for my kids as often as I can, in whatever way works for them. For Lindsay, that usually means a chat for about 30 minutes a week, since she’s a teenager, after all, and knows everything already. Natalie is always hanging out with me, running errands and spending every possible moment she can catch. And then there’s Paige, who’s a bit selective with her time but still lets me put her to bed every night. This Father’s Day, I can’t think of anything more meaningful to celebrate. –Chris Earley

RICHARD BRANSON’S ‘FINDING MY VIRGINITY’ IS ONE WILD RIDE CEO CHRIS EARLEY’S BOOK OF THE MONTH

commercial "Spaceline." Interspersed among his successes and failures in the world of business are anecdotes that make you think this guy has one of the

everyone got to where they are in life somehow, and the methods, obstacles, and triumphs they experience along the way can teach us volumes about not only business, but also new ways to approach life in general. Across the nearly 500 pages of Virgin Group founder Richard Branson’s second autobiography, “Finding My Virginity,” I discovered a wealth of lessons about entrepreneurship and following where passion leads you. And, of course, it definitely helped that it was a wild story, charged throughout with Branson’s characteristically irreverent humor. When Branson started Virgin, the company that would make him one of the richest men in the world, it was little more than a student magazine. But he’s nothing if not a man with lofty aspirations. From that humble beginning, he built Virgin up to a massive conglomerate of more than 400 businesses, sticking to his mantra, “Screw it, let’s do it,” every step of the way. Branson’s original autobiography “Losing My Virginity” charted his path from student to international success, but this one is more focused on the latter half of his career, especially the past 20 years. It paints a vivid picture of a man who never stops dreaming big, expanding his insanely profitable brand to new frontiers since the turn of the millennium, even guiding Virgin into the stars with the world’s first

most fun lives ever, rubbing elbows with people like Nelson Mandela and George Clooney, or standing on top of an air balloon 10,000 feet in the air. Key to his whole philosophy is the idea that we need to take risks to find any kind of success. Some of the moves he makes in the book would absolutely terrify other entrepreneurs, but in Branson’s hand turn to gold. While I don’t agree with everything he says in the book, I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking to break out of their business bubble and start transforming the world around them.

TESTIMONIAL

“Liberty Inspection Group and, more specifically, Tyler Wells were recommended to me by my co- worker. When we arrived at the property, Tyler was already there and had done the outside inspections, including the roof. From there, he explained exactly what was to be expected and how the inspection would go. He was very knowledgeable, thorough, and answered all of our questions. He's very down- to-earth and a pleasure to work with. After the inspection, he gave a recap and individually went through each thing he came across. I would highly recommend him to anyone who is looking for a home inspection! My husband and I are very satisfied with

the experience.” –Samantha

AVOID AN EXPENSIVE HEADACHE INSPECT SEWER LINES

Very few property owners ever think about their sewer lines or septic systems. After all, why would you? When waste goes down the drain, it disappears out of your life forever, lost in a labyrinth of pipes. When you’re looking for a new home or property to purchase, the sewer is probably the last thing on your mind. But let us be the one to tell you, whether you’re a buyer or a seller, haywire sewer lines can cause you a lot more headaches than you realize. Even relatively new buildings that look great at first glance may have issues lurking beneath the surface. Tree roots can easily worm their way into sewer lines, acting as unwanted “filters” for all kinds of nasty debris, like eggshells and other less-appealing materials. In the worst circumstances, tree roots can mangle those all-important pipes, causing a ridiculous mess that may eventually cost you thousands of dollars. What’s more, some older homes relied on outdated technology when they were first built and their infrastructure is steadily deteriorating toward disaster. It’s not uncommon for sewer line repairs to cost $5,000, $10,000, or even $25,000 to fully implement!

That’s why we recommend that prospective buyers always scope their sewers before putting any money down. A thorough, relatively inexpensive check to ensure everything’s up to snuff can save you piles of money in the long-run.

At Liberty Inspection Group, we offer comprehensive sewer-inspection services done by our skilled professionals. That way, we can

do more than ensure that you’re not buying a lemon; we can determine if the sewage lines will stay safe and solid for the long term. Before you sign away thousands of dollars for a soon-to-be health hazard, give us a call at 610.717.3082 , and give yourself some peace of mind.

THE BEST TIME TO BOOK A FLIGHT

SAVE BIG ON AIRFARE WITH THIS SIMPLE RULE

In case you haven’t noticed, traveling is expensive . It can feel like you’re signing away your soul when you sit down to plan a vacation. But when it comes to flights, there’s good news: They’re getting cheaper! According to a 2017 report published by online travel company ODIGEO, long- distance trips across Europe fell 7 percent last year. Luckily, the same trend is reflected in North American airlines as they engage in a price war to woo a growing base of ultrafrugal travelers. Still, a $600 summer flight to Honolulu isn’t exactly pocket change. What’s worse, flight prices are slippery; CheapAir.com’s 2017 Annual Airfare Study determined that the fares for any given trip go up or down an average of 71 times, about $33 each shift. When you purchase your flight is nearly as important as where you’re going. But how do you choose a booking window that will maximize your savings?

According to the CheapAir.com study, in which they evaluated 921 million airfares, the best time to book is 21–105 days in advance of your flight, on average. If you want to get even more specific, try to book 55–75 days out, and book on a Sunday. Many travelers swear by Tuesday and Wednesday bookings, but as Condé Nast Traveler reports, Expedia and the Airlines Reporting Corporation say that Sunday is the way to go, based on data from billions of flights. Tuesday and Wednesday are usually the cheapest days to actually fly, though. The CheapAir.com study also pinpoints the absolute best windows for specific seasons: 54 days for winter trips, 75 days for spring, 76 days for summer, and 45 days for fall. Of course, these are averages, but if you stick to these rules and check fares regularly on sites like Kayak.com, SkyScanner.com, Momondo.com, and on the handy app Hopper, you can rest easy knowing you’re getting close to the best price possible.
