How My Family Founded and Grew Chiro1Source FROM DOUBLE-WIDE TO NATIONWIDE

I still chuckle thinking about the fit our local fire marshal would have thrown if he’d ever paid us a visit. Dad wanted to offer exactlywhat chiropractors needed, so he started his research process by going door to door at clinics around town, asking about their dream inventory. We originally bought from just 10 manufacturers, but our inventory grew along with the company. Now we’ve moved from a double-wide trailer full of pillows to a 5,000-square- foot warehouse and offer more than 3,000 product variations to chiropractors across the country.

When he checked the company records, he realized that she’d been purchasing supplies from 18 different companies and paying separate shipping charges to all of them. This was long before the days of one-company-fits-all shopping websites like Amazon, and the ridiculous stack of shipping bills gave my dad an idea: Why not start a business that offers every product a chiropractor could possibly need, all with a single phone call (before the days of online shopping)?

As a middle school kid working after school and summers, I helped pack boxes. And when I didn’t sound like a 12-year-old anymore, my dad started letting me answer the phone. Even then, I knew I wanted to carry the business on someday. In 2011, I graduated from the University of North Carolina with degrees in economics and international studies and headed back to Farmville to work for Chiro1Source full time. One thing led to another, and three years ago, mywife Marah and I purchased the business. We couldn’t be happier with the work we've done, and we often talk about how great it feels to build relationships with our customers and help hardworking people each day. We still pride ourselves on our top-notch customer service. From day one, my dad hated phone trees and vowed that Chiro1Source would never subject its customers to prerecorded messages or long lists of dial prompts. No one is sleeping under their desks anymore, but you’ll still get a real person every time you call in an order. Not only that, but our staff members have all spent years in the chiropractic industry and worked in our warehouse. They know the products so well that our average order time is just 57 seconds, making it easy for busy professionals like you to fulfill your needs in record time. Though we’ve already made huge gains in the last 18 years, I’m happy to say that Chiro1Source is still growing. Our inventory is always evolving with the industry, and we’re constantly adding new products to our arsenal of pillows, hot and cold packs, electrotherapy essentials, topicals, orthopedics, and more. With clients like you there’s nowhere for us to go but up.

My dad left private practice to try his hand at a new line of work and started the company that would become Chiro1Source. His goal in 2001 was to create a chiropractor- centric business with excellent customer service, and he was prepared to do whatever it took to make that happen. In the early days of Chiro1Source, the companywas a two-man team (well, one boy and one man). I was in middle school at the time, but I did what I could to support my dad’s dream. He started the business in a double-wide and stored the inventory in some outside buildings until they filled up quickly. Eventually I lost my bedroom to D-Core pillows.
