Sharon Hubbard ABOUT: Using light, shadow, texture, and tone allows the viewer to see beauty and feel the tactile nature of the world around us. Building layers of color, sealing them with matte, satin, and glossy finishes, allows the paintings to change color and reflect light differently as you view it from different angles and in different lighting. I am fortunate to have a never-ending backdrop of nature to inspire my paintings, as my Northern Michigan studio overlooks a high hilltop view of Lake Michigan over wooded dunes and beach. The featured image is a view from my loft. NOTES ON “INLAND SEA” & “KEEPING IT BLUE”: Each time I see a sunrise, sunset, or just a fascinating group of clouds lit up at an angle by the sun, it soothes my soul. Each time I see a sparkle of sun dancing on the water, it makes me smile. I paint because I want to capture that feeling, make it last a little longer, and share it with others. THIS YEAR: This last year has been difficult for most, with all the closures, restrictions, and associated changes, but for me, it has been an extension of the quiet beauty that continues to inspire and challenge my creative nature. It is a great time to be still and surround ourselves with beauty and light. CONTACT: Website, Facebook, Studio in Harbor Springs available by appointment. sharon@sharonhubbardart.com.
