“Life in the Pond,” Painted alcohol ink, 2020, framed 11 x 14 in, $150. The colors I used felt peaceful and life was carefree and serene.

Anne Matzka ABOUT: Art has always been a part of who I am. In my formative years, I learned to love creating images and found watercolor to be my favorite medium. Throughout my life, I have taken classes and workshops from local watercolorists to nationally known watercolorists. I paint because I love the experience of putting myself on paper, never knowing how my work will turn out, watching the colors flow and mix. Although watercolor is my favorite medium, I often paint with alcohol inks and pastels. My favorite subjects are figures, florals, and landscapes. I am from Petoskey, Michigan, and an active member of CTAC Painters’ Studio group, working with watercolor and alcohol inks. THIS YEAR: I have learned this year how precious time is and how thankful I am to have a studio. It is a gift to take advantage of meditating and being creative in the same timeframe, in such a special place. GALLERIES: Crooked Tree Art Gallery, Petoskey, MI; Artists in Paradise Gallery, Big Pine Key, FL CONTACT: anniematzka@gmail.com

“Hope,” Watercolor, 2020, framed 5 x 7 in, $200. “Hope” is a watercolor that was painted in early summer of 2020 when I felt hopeful and happy within the confines of remaining isolated at home due to COVID. Flowers to me, always bring happiness at the present, and hope for better times in the future.
