“Come and Sit,” Oil on birch plein air and studio, 2020, framed 12 x 12 in, $275. At the end of August, I attended an American Impressionist Association retreat at Mackinac Island. For three amazing days we painted outdoors. On the last day, I began this painting of a private home on the Island. I blocked in the porch and furniture and put down some color notes and then packed up to head to the ferry. I finished the painting later in my studio from a photo. The soft colorful cushions on the wicker chair just beckon you to come and sit and enjoy the sun on your face and summer breeze off of Lake Michigan.

Wendy McWhorter ABOUT: I describe myself as a eco-artist. I love trees—they are my totem. The beauty of natural environs is life itself and will go on beyond time. Preserving land, water, and our air is essential to our way of life. I try to record through my artwork the essence of nature as close as I can by painting plein air and interpreting what I see through color and form. The journey of landscape painting takes me outdoors to places that are unexpected and always inspiring. THIS YEAR: 2020 was an amazing year for artwork sales. I sold through online platforms as well as art centers and art galleries. Bravo to all of these businesses and art organizations for their online marketing and finding new people to love my art. GALLERIES : Charlevoix Circle of the Arts, Charleviox, MI; True North Design, Charlevoix, MI CONTACT: Facebook, Instagram. Studio visits available by appointment.

“Summer Sweetness at the Lake,” Oil on birch, pleinair, 2020, framed 14 x 17 in, $175. I had just moved to Torch Lake and was so excited to get up early and paint the sunrise. The colors were so bright and light-filled, the painting screamed out in peach, lime green, and mostly lavender like cotton candy at the fair.
