2025-2026: A Year of Championships, League Titles, Honors for BUSD Athletes
What a year it has been for our Barstow Unified School District student-athletes! We celebrated our Aztecs’ Football Team, right, as they won the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) State 4-AA Championship, defeating Sutter Union High School 17-7. Our Aztecs are the FIRST football team in the High Desert to win a state championship. The Aztecs won 12 consecutive games to close out the year, including wins over Victor Valley in the 102nd Axe Game, the third straight Axe Game win for the Aztecs, and Apple Valley for the CIF-Southern Section Division 7 title.

Aztec Wrestling, below, continues its tradition of racking up championships and advancing wrestlers to CIF. A total of five Aztecs won Desert Sky League Titles, five more placed and all ten advanced to the CIF Individual Championships.

Barstow Junior High School, top left, and Barstow STEM Academy Boys’, bottom left, and Girls’, middle left, each won High Desert Athletic League titles this year. For BJHS, it was their first league title. It was the third title for the STEM Academy Boys and first title for the Girls.

The Aztecs’ Baseball team will honor and recognize its Class of 2026 athletes on Monday, May 4, before the team’s game with Adelanto.
Congratulations to the Aztecs’ Boys & Girls Soccer, Aztecs’ Cross Country, STEM Academy and BJHS Volleyball, Aztecs’ Boys’ & Girls’ Tennis, Aztecs Track and Field, and Aztecs’ Boys’ and Girls’ Golf for their accomplishments this year!
