SRS Program Spring 2023

Marissa Koebel - “Assistive Measures for Choking Patients” (session 13) Choking in the United States caused 3,000 deaths in 2020 and it can happen in an instant. The effectiveness of current assistance measures the traditional back thrusts, the heimlich maneuver, and anti-choking devices (ACDs), such as the LifeVac are compared in an educational module designed for first responders. It is important that people understand the effectiveness of these assistive measures and that education is available for first responders or other health care workers, so these devices can be used to take care of a choking individual in an emergent situation. Patricia Kolodziejczyk Bem (special session/poster session) - see Antrillo Marco Kost - “The Dependency of the Elderly Relies on Caretakers” (session 2) I would like to present why the life of elderly people is still worth living even though a lot of them are dependent on caretakers and can’t do a lot of their daily routine by themselves. Besides that I want to point out the difficulties coming when you and your body is aging, for example muscle regression or dementia. I chose this topic because I saw a lot of these symptoms and development in both of my grandmothers, which both had to move out of their home in institutions to receive the care they needed to manage their daily life. As well as a speculation as to why so many people find comfort watching TheOffice . His accomplishments and dedication continue to be the focus of sports commentators and analysts, and there are important lessons to learn from how Kobe lived his life on and off the court. I discuss Kobe’s approach to achieving goals in four parts: being fearless, putting your heart into your goals, building a brilliant team around you, and using each experience as a chance to make your own luck.
