Cameron Lockett - “Generational Differences” (poster session) For my project I will be doing a study regarding the generational differences for younger generations and older generations. The study covers 4 major key factors of society that has changed the flow of society such as the LGBTQIA+ community, Guns, COVID-19, and societal views. The experiment that will take place will be that of a survey in order to see where each participant of various generations will answer to see how they feel society has been molded and what was the standard from their generations. These 4 components were chosen because these have been some of the major differences apart of society. Joshua Lowery - “Never Alone: Life with Schizophrenia” (poster session) There are an estimated 1.5 million Americans that struggle with schizophrenia. Schizophrenia can not be cured but managed with medication and lifelong work, a psychologist usually leads these treatments. Schizophrenia is a severe brain disorder that affects how people perceive and interact with reality, often causing hallucinations, delusions, and social withdrawal. I will add more in depth but will start with the definition. Will also talk about what causes it even though there is not an exact reason on what causes Schizophrenia, but there are some theories. I would explore those theories. I want to know and use testimonies from different people who struggle with schizophrenia. And how they manage and thrive with this disability I will also give examples of famous or influential people who also have this disability. Then I would leave off the last part about my opinion. Irene Madrid, Mila Saole, Craig Travis, Miluska Guevara, & Zachary Marotte - “Athletic Department Internship Group B” (session 2) What we learn during the semester and our experience with the athletic department. Rachel Mapes (poster session) - see Welty Matias Maquieira - “How Does Cannabis Affect College Students?” (poster session) Marijuana is a common drug in the college setting as it is a soft drug, same as tobacco and alcohol. This study aims to obtain information on how consumption of marijuana might affect or not affect college students’ performance, taking in account factors such as amount of using, when the student started consuming, and relating it to how they develop in college added to their GPA. For the methods, a google forms survey was sent out to students in Missouri Valley College and asked to self report on their college experience and performance, assessed with a short essay and answer questions about it, and self report their pattern of marijuana use. The results will be discussed in the poster session.
