Driver Manual - Flipping book version

SECTION SIX Security

Security of your Vehicle and Load

Where a vehicle has to be left unattended for however long, it must be immobilised by removing the ignition keys, all windows must be closed and both cab doors locked. Vehicle keys must be returned to the transport office when debriefed. Items of value such as mobile phones and Satellite Navigation Systems must be removed from view.

Where practical, park the vehicle where it remains within your view. This does not mean it can be left unsecured.

When vehicles are parked at the depot after the shift end all vehicle keys must be returned to the transport office.

Ensure that all body doors and shutters are secured when mobile and all times other than when actual loading or unloading is taking place.

On no account are unauthorised persons to be carried or allowed in the driver’s cab or on the vehicle in general at any time without the express permission of an authorised company official.

The carrying of animals or livestock of any kind is expressly prohibited, other than on behalf of the company in the normal conduct of business.

The nature of goods carried on the vehicle or by the company in general should not be discussed with persons other than authorised management and staff concerned with the transit operation.
