47 000$ EN TROIS ANS POUR LE ROCKLAND FORD CLASSICS POKER RUN
Annie Lafortune C’est dans le cadre du Festival de la rivière des Outaouais que se tiendra à Rockland, pour la quatrième année consécutive, la Ford Classics Poker Run 2015. Plus de 125 Mustang et voitures classiques de marque Ford sont attendues le 4 juillet pour parcourir les 200 km prévus. Le point de départ se fera à 8 h chez Rockland Ford, rue Laurier. « Cette année, a expliqué l’orga- nisateur Sylvain Dupuis, nous longerons pour la première fois les rives du côté du Québec, pour revenir sur l’autre rive, côté Ontario. » En eet, les voitures quitteront Rockland pour embarquer sur le traversier de Cumber- land. Six arrêts sont prévus. Une fois à terre, les voitures se dirigeront vers Montebello pour découvrir les magniques paysages de ce côté de la rive, puis se dirigeront vers Hawkesbury, Chute-à-Blondeau, L’Orignal, Lefaivre etWendover. C’est au Parc duMoulin, à Rockland, qu’est prévue l’arrivée vers midi. « On attend environ 125 voitures parti- cipantes, plus que l’an passé. À chacun des arrêts, les participants vont prendre une carte qui se trouve dans une enveloppe scellée. Une fois arrivé au Parc du Moulin, les six enveloppes de chaque participant seront ouvertes. La personne qui aura la meilleure main de poker gagnera le 1 er prix », a précisé M. Dupuis qui a tenu à souligner que cet événement n’est pas une course mais bien une promenade de découverte de la nature, dans le but d’amasser des fonds qui seront remis à la Fondation canadienne du cancer du sein. D’ailleurs, à cet eet, la Mustang rose sera de la partie, et toutes les personnes qui feront un don de 5 $ pourront signer leur nom sur le bolide rose. Toutes les personnes qui participeront à ce Poker Run pourront également faire remplir
une feuille de dons. « Celui qui aura recueilli le plus de dons, grâce à sa famille et ses amis, gagnera une caméra pour son tableau de bord », a rajouté M. Dupuis. Plus d’une cinquantaine de personnes ont travaillé pour que cet événement connaisse un autre succès. « Sans eux, je n’aurais jamais pu réaliser cette journée. Et sans Chantal Malboeuf et Jean-François Soucy non plus, car ils ont coordonné de main de maître le Poker Run », a tenu à souligner Sylvain Dupuis. L’année dernière, ce sont plus de 22 000 $ qui avaient été amassés. Quelque 15 000 $ avaient été remis à la Fondation canadienne du cancer du sein, et 7 200 $ à la commu- nauté de Clarence-Rockland dans le cadre du programme Fier de bâtir la communauté .

$47,000 IN THREE YEARS FOR THE FORD CLASSICS POKER RUN For the fourth year running, the Ford Classics Poker Runwill rally support from classic sports car enthusiasts to help ght cancer. As one of the most popular highlight events during the annual Ottawa River Festival, this year’s Ford Classics will feature more than 125 Mustangs and other classic Ford vehicles rolling out for a 200-kilometre winding rally tour of Prescott-Russell and parts beyond. The starting point for the July 4 event is fromRockland Ford on Laurier Street with the rst car and driver rolling out at 8 a.m. «This year, for the rst time, we’re going to tour along the Québec side of the Ottawa River,» said Sylvain Dupuis, event coordi- nator, «and then return along the Ontario side. Drivers will steer their way fromRockland towards the ferry landing, with six stops following en route back to Rockland. Included among those stops are Montebello on the Québec side of the river then on the Ontario side starting with Hawkesbury, followed by Chute-à-Blondeau, L’Orignal, Lefebvre, andWendover, all featuring opportunities to enjoy viewing the beautiful riverside scenery. The rally nish line is at Parc du Moulin in Rockland with the rst vehicles expected to arrive around noon. «At each of the stops,» Dupuis explained, «drivers collect a playing card in a sealed envelope. When they arrive in Rockland, all six of the envelopes are opened. The driver with the best ‘poker hand’ in the rally wins rst prize.» Dupuis noted that the rally is not so much a race in this respect, but an opportunity to discover and enjoy the natural beauty of the region. It has also become a very important regional fundraising event for breast cancer research. For that reason a rose-pink Mustang is the ¤ag car of the rally and anyone donating ve dollars gets to sign their name on the car. Drivers in the rally are also encouraged to collect pledges for their participation in the regional marathon drive. Backing this year’s rally trip are more than 50 volunteers who have been working behind-the-scenes to prepare everything before the checkered ¤ag drops on July 4. Dupuis that without their dedicated eorts, the Poker Run would never get started. Last year’s Rockland Ford Classics Poker Run raised more than $22,000, with about $15,000 going to the Canadian Cancer Foun- dation for breast cancer research. Another $7200 was donated to the Proud to Build a Community program in Clarence-Rockland.
