Human Resources • Create and maintain a motivated, driven and targeted workforce.

• Ensure that clear, effective channels of communication are maintained with all staff at all times. • Manage all day to day staffing issues (in close liaison with the HR Manager), conduct performance reviews, and make recommendations for staff development and training. • Ensure compliance with health and safety legislation and actively promote safe working practices. • In line with the corporate objectives set clear, targeted objectives for individual staff members and monitor and control performance against these. • Ensure that adequate levels of appropriately qualified staff are available and on duty at all times. • Undertake disciplinary action as appropriate (in close liaison with the HR Manager) and maintain full and accurate records. Financial • Produce (with budget holders) a comprehensive annual budget with full supporting documentation, in line with agreed targets and objectives. • Manage BCS and CHEL results within or ahead of the approved budget limits. • Ensure financial procedures are appropriate to ensure that assets are protected and all expenditure properly controlled. • Monitor current financial position on at least a monthly basis identifying problems and implementing corrective action when necessary. • Report and analyse the financial position of BCS and CHEL as required. • Investigate and explain variances, manage debt and instruct Accounts on how to act in response to bad debts. • Produce and maintain such reports as are appropriate. • Identify new financial initiatives to improve the financial results for BCS and CHEL. Membership • Expand the membership base until this has an adverse impact on customer service provision to existing members and impacts negatively on profitability. • Put in place / improve procedures and initiatives to improve member retention and loyalty.
