absolutely essential element in the pro duction of Christian character and the building of the Church. “In the full ness of time” came Jesus. When the day of Pentecost was fully come the Holy Spirit came. The manifestation of the Holy Spirit is varied as is His work. Sometimes He comes as the dew of the night, sometimes like the morn ing cloud, sometimes as the refreshing rain. Here He came suddenly—as God says—-“Swift destruction” (Isa. 29:5). Jesus came suddenly to the Temple. The Holy Spirit came from heaven from which place Jesus sent Him. There was a sound from heaven, as there will be when the Lord comes with a shout. All were conscious of His coming. All were commissioned by His coming. They were baptized for this service; they were filled with His power and they were set apart as witnesses. The Lord had said, “Ye shall be witnesses of me.” The day had fully come. The Spirit had fully come. They were fully ordained, baptized, and commissioned as wit nesses. The Executive of the Godhead had taken possession of them. The work of the Father was completed in the giving of His Son. The work of His Son was completed in the shedding of His blood and in His resurrection. The work of the Holy Spirit will be com pleted when His witnesses fulfill the obligation committed to them,—the giv ing of the Gospel to the world, the gathering of the Church to the heavenly home. All power was given to the Lord and He has committed the power to the Holy Spirit to endue, His followers. He has the keys of Divine power at His girdle and the signet ring of the Glori fied Christ. The proof of His power is clearly seen in the history of the Church. Poor uneducated, illiterate disciples of a hated, crucified Jew were sent forth to preach His Gospel of good tidings and the whole earth has been girdled and millions have surrendered to the Divine will. The Holy Spirit’s coming was in accordance with the scripture-—for the scripture must be fulfilled. Not one jot or tittle can pass without a literal fulfillment. We are never contused or confounded if we hold fast to the Word of truth. Never mind the scholars, no matter who they may be. It is written, and what is written cannot be changed by the wisdom of man. Times and season are not only fixed but are foreshadowed in type and symbol—the three great feasts of the Jews,-—the Passover, Pentecost and Tabernacle. In the Passover we see Jesus, in Pentecost we see the Holy Spirit and in the Tabernacle we see the Father. One related to the altar, the cross and the blood which cleanses and covers. The other to the Law and God’s covenant with Israel. "The last tells of the home-coming and ingather ing of His people. So we have Jesus in the Passover, and the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, and the Father in the great gathering of all the saints to the Home prepared. The coming of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost was an epoch-making period. As it was absolutely essential for Jesus to die and rise again so it was absolutely necessary that the Holy Spirit should come and make a temple for the Father and Son. As the Father dwelt in the midst of His people, Israel, so now He dwells in our hearts by the Holy Spirit. Law emanated from the Father, mercy and judgment were com mitted to the Son and the execution of both is the Holy Spirit. He is the
