The Season of Giving
Our annual Christmas luncheon is a highlight for me. The whole company—this year we’ll be 110—gathers at tables set amidst the hides in our headquarters to enjoy a meal together. Lunch is followed by a robust raffle that raises money for the local non-profit, the Lynchburg Daily Bread. For the last 37 years, this amazing organization has provided hot meals 365 days a year to anyone in need, all you can eat, no questions asked. Everyone is welcome at their café on Clay Street. More recently, they have been able to mobilize their purpose, delivering hot meals to the surrounding region, serving a record 79,000 meals in 2018. Embedded in our mission at Moore & Giles is the responsibility we have to serve our community. We feel fortunate to be able to contribute each year to such a worthy cause and we are lucky to live in a city that works hard to care for every citizen. Our holiday lunch is high-spirited and the raffle is fun but they are also reminders to all of us that the season of giving is about giving back, being thankful for what we have and doing all that we can to serve others. And as we conclude another year, it is a reminder to us of the privilege we have to serve you. We are grateful for your business, we appreciate the opportunity to play a part in your gift-giving, and we thank you for your continued support.

Our fireplace collection brings together not just sturdy materials and unique design, but also makers of peerless skill. The leather sling is double-layered to prevent stretching over time; the handles are reinforced with rivets and the edges are bound for both longevity and a more finished look. The fireplace tools are handcrafted by Brent Dohn who turns each sculptural curly maple handle and welds the iron into form in his Columbia, SC workshop. The custom stands for both the tools and the leather log carrier were designed in house before the components were laser cut out of half-inch stainless steel and then welded with surgical precision by local craftsman Jarrett Parker. In both form and function they are, in short, the best.

Traynham Collection We worked for over a year with artisans in North Carolina to create a companion collection for our well-tailored 33 Chair. The goal was larger pieces that were substantial without being monumental additions to a room. The resulting Traynham Collection is a commanding presence.
