Inish Beg Estate Inish Beg Estate, Baltimore, Co. Cork, P81 CX60
Inish Beg is a private island estate defined by quiet beauty, character, and a deep sense of place. Carefully restored by your hosts, Paul and Georgiana Keane, the estate unfolds through ancient woodland, gardens, and sheltered shoreline, each space shaped with sensitivity to its heritage and surroundings. The gardens remain open year-round, offering a changing landscape of colour, texture, and stillness. Throughout the estate, there is a feeling of ease and intimacy; places to wander, pause, and to reconnect with nature. Inish Beg is less about doing, and more about being – a place to slow down, settle in, and experience something quietly memorable.
Independence Museum Kilmurry in County Cork showcases hundreds of artefacts telling Ireland’s history from 1750 to the 1930s, with guided tours that bring to life the experiences of poor tenant farmers, labourers, and landlords during the struggle for Irish independence. Opened by President Higgins in 2016, it replaces the Terence MacSwiney Memorial Museum and highlights local connections to figures such as Terence MacSwiney and Kathleen Clarke. The museum also displays items linked to nearby War of Independence and Civil War sites, including Kilmichael, Crossbarry and Béal na Bláth, and features archaeological exhibits along with summer field trips and year‑round lectures and events.
Kenmare Bay Boat Tours is a family‑run experience that brings visitors onto the sheltered waters of Kenmare Bay aboard a specially designed passenger boat, offering close‑up views of the area’s rich wildlife – including seals, dolphins, foxes, otters, goats and seabirds – and panoramic scenery stretching from the Caha Mountains to the MacGillycuddy Reeks. The relaxing tour explores one of Ireland’s most beautiful marine landscapes, a 55‑kilometre bay that divides the Beara and Iveragh peninsulas, giving guests the chance to photograph rugged shorelines, tranquil islands and sun‑basking seals. Suitable for families and nature lovers, the trip provides an easy and memorable way to experience the breathtaking coastline from the water.
