Kinsale Mead Co., Ireland’s first meadery in nearly 200 years, offers an entertaining one‑hour tour celebrating the ancient drink of Celtic kings and chieftains. Visitors learn about mead’s history, explore the journey from honey to bottle, and discover how Kate and Denis Dempsey revived this tradition using sustainable methods and natural ingredients. Highlights include tasting three raw honeys, hearing myths and legends, and sampling award‑winning meads and cocktails in the beautiful oak‑bar tasting room. Located in the heart of food‑loving Kinsale, this handcrafted, family‑run meadery blends old recipes with modern techniques for a unique flavour experience.
Located in a 400‑year‑old former market house on Market Square, Kinsale Museum brings the town’s rich local, national and international history to life through an eclectic collection of artefacts and curiosities. Exhibits explore major events such as the 1601 Battle of Kinsale and the sinking of the Lusitania, whose inquest was held in this very building. Maritime heritage, local stories and the tale of the Kinsale Giant add further colour. With original objects, audiovisual displays, interpretive panels and knowledgeable volunteers, it is a family‑friendly stop offering up to an hour of engaging discovery in the heart of Kinsale.
Departing from Kinsale Harbour, Kinsale Sea Safari offers an exhilarating way to experience the dramatic coastline of County Cork. Our two‑hour Old Head safari covers 25km of breathtaking scenery, from the historic Charles Fort and James Fort at the harbour entrance to the Old Head Lighthouse and the rugged Sovereign Islands. Along the way, guests may encounter Atlantic grey seals, marine birdlife and, if luck is on their side, common or bottlenose dolphins. Ideal for families, couples and adventure seekers, it’s a memorable journey into the heart of the Atlantic.
