From Glengarriff on the shores of West Cork, Bantry Bay Charters offer marine adventures for families, couples, groups, and solo explorers aboard their 33‑foot vessel, Deep Star. With a maximum of ten passengers, trips range from deep‑sea and mackerel fishing to marine wildlife cruises and scenic or historical coastal tours, with the option to design your own “Day On The Bay”. Onboard comforts include rod and tackle hire, binoculars, tea and coffee facilities, and even a BBQ for hire. Overlooking Bantry Bay, Bantry House & Garden invites visitors to explore one of West Cork’s most elegant stately homes, lived in by the White family since the 18th century. Open from April to October, the estate features a distinguished collection of art treasures gathered during the 2nd Earl of Bantry’s grand tour. Its Italian‑inspired gardens stretch across seven terraces, with highlights including the wisteria‑ringed parterre and the famous Hundred Steps rising through rhododendrons and azaleas. A tearoom, seasonal events, and its role as a wedding venue further enhance this atmospheric historic experience.
The Bere Island Heritage Centre serves as the focal point for preserving and sharing the island’s rich cultural and military history, and is home to The Bere Island Experience exhibition. The centre offers an in‑depth look at island life through artefacts, photographs and displays that trace Bere Island’s unique heritage, while also hosting themed, temporary exhibitions throughout the year. Visitors will find a craft shop, café, genealogy resources, maps, heritage‑site information, a library, a meeting room for hire and access to the St Michael’s Graveyard database, making it a welcoming hub for both islanders and tourists.
