BAGELS IN BIRMINGHAM: WHAT TO ORDER AND WHY IT’S WORTH THE WAIT
PopUp Bagels is Birmingham’s newest bagel shop, and it’s taking the city by storm: there’s almost always a line out the door. But once you try it, you’ll understand the hype. Located next to Taco Mama in the Summit, PopUp’s bagels are sold by the bag—they come in sets of three, six, twelve, or thirty, plus a schmear or two (or five). You just build your bag with your choice of bagels, select your schmear(s), then dig in. “No sandwiches here—we serve our bagels fresh from the oven, hot and whole, to Grip, Rip and Dip,” their website states. “Loyal fans enjoy our bagels right from the bag, or they can be taken home or to the park to enjoy in endless ways.” Their menu is simple—and simply delicious. Whether you eat the bagel by itself or pair it with one of the rotating schmear flavors, you’ll be happy. They offer savory and sweet classics like Brown Sugar Cinnamon Butter and Scallion, as well as “limited edition” flavors like Chocolate Chip Banana Bread. Their most popular bagels are the Salt and Everything—but there’s nothing “plain” about their plain bagel, and the Sesame and Poppy are nothing to scoff at either. “What drew me to PopUp Bagels was how it turns something as simple as a bagel into an experience people genuinely look forward to sharing,” explains Alex Bishop, Operator of PB Alabama. “I’m thrilled to partner with the brand to bring that energy to Alabama and build locations that become part of the communities they serve for years to come.” Be sure to stop by and try PopUp Bagels out at 329 Summit Blvd Suite A2, Birmingham—don’t worry, fresh bagels are baked constantly throughout the day so you’ll get yours hot!
