During their Nov. 19 board session, trustees reviewed a !nancial report on the 2013-2014 !scal year of operations from a representative with the KPMG auditing !rm. The overall !nancial state- ment summary was positive. “These results re"ect the dedication and accountability of all sta#,” stated William J. Gartland, CDSBEO education director, “and our focus on making re- sources matter, in particular for the suc- cess of the student in the classroom. We continue to remain focused on provid- ing the best quality Catholic education possible for students in Eastern Ontario.” The !nancial report noted that the school district met all of the provincial government’s demands for balanced budgeting by school districts while at the same time meeting special educa- tion needs in the district and also main- taining provincial demands for smaller teacher-to-student classroom size ratios that would allow teachers to provide more one-on-one attention when need- ed with individual students. In the CDSBEO during the past !scal year all primary classes, from junior Kin- dergarten to grade 3 had an average of 23 students and in about 90 per cent of cases the student class size was 20 or less.

KEMPTVILLE | As the end of the year ap- proaches, trustees with the Catholic Dis- trict School Board of Eastern Ontario enjoyed reading a positive report about the past budget plan. West sewer design contract Russell Township will contract with engineering services !rm, WSP, for design work on the Embrun West Sanitary Sewer project. The compa- ny was the winner among !ve !rms in a competitive bid process for the design contract. The !nal agreement between the township and the com- pany is worth $32,624.26, including the municipal portion of the HST. The contract covers project design and other pre-construction services. Construction itself should be com- pleted in 2015. Financing of construc- tion will be a combination of unused municipal funds in the infrastructure budget and user contributions from business owners in the Embrun West area made through a repayment op- tion plan.
Vehicle owners in violation of this by- law are subject to a !ne of $65.00.
New Procedures Vehicles obstructing snow removal operations will be towed and relocated to the public parking located on Brébeuf Street and the owners are subject to a !ne of $175.00.
