Harvey Lee Marshall, Jr. 1943–2018 Educator, Coach

His educational career from there includes faculty positions at North Carolina Agricultural & Technical State University, Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community Col- lege, Vance Community College, and until retirement, serving as a full profes- sor at North Carolina Central University. Throughout and after his educational career, he served as a dissertation advi- sor for a host of doctoral students. His career also included serving as Director of Counseling at the National Institute of Environmental Health Sci- ences and a seven -year term on the Durham City School Board of Educa- tion. In line with his drive for education, he became: a licensed real estate broker, a state certified funeral director and embalmer, a licensed behavioral health professional, a licensed insurance agent, and served as an entrepreneur running Eagle Special-Tees, a screen-printing company. He was an active member in several professional organizations. He was named Durham (NC) Alumni 2019 Senior Kappa Man of the year prior to his passing. William planted his family legacy, on February 1, 1966, when he married his best friend, Queen. This union was blessed with two children, "Buddy" Wil- liam Jr., (Kansas City, M.O.), and "my baby girl" Lori, (McLeansville, N.C.). He is also survived by his daughter-in- law, Glenda N. Dowdy, (Fayetteville, N.C.). Three grandchildren: Ronald (Honolulu, H.I.), Robert (Burbank, C.A.), and Alisha (Seattle, W.A.). His latest apple of the eye Jayla Dean. Four sisters: Mary Jane Flowers, Annie Lee Lawrence, Evangeline "Patsy" McBride, and Clara Dunn (Wayne). Two broth- ers: Roosevelt Lawrence and Walter Lawrence (Shirley). Two brothers-in-law Henry Delon Wooten (Virginia), Leon Wooten (Barbara), and two sisters-in-law Gracie Lawrence and Harlene Wooten- Walters. Four generations of nieces, nephews, and cousins and a host of friends.

On Tuesday, May 22, 2018, Harvey Marshall received a call and answered the voice of Jesus saying, “Come unto me…I will give you rest.” He was a beloved son, father, husband, brother, uncle, grandfather, teacher, coach, ad- ministrator and friend. Harvey Lee Marshall, Jr. was born June 9, 1943 in Birmingham, Alabama to Har- vey L. and Dollie P. Marshall. He accepted Christ at an early age and

joined the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church of Pratt City. He was educated in the Birmingham Public School system, graduating from Western-Olin High School. He then attended and graduated from Daniel Payne College and Alabama A&M University. He moved to Anniston and joined the Mount Olive Baptist Church under Rev. J. S. Nettles’ leadership. He served in many capacities at Mount Olive including Superintendent of Sunday School, Sunday School teacher, Lay- man, Trustee, and member of the Senior Usher Board. His life was exemplary. He was a man of great character. He loved life and lived it to the fullest. While dedicating 37 years of his life to the betterment of ‘his children”, Mr. Marshall worked in the classroom for over 30 years with the Calhoun County Board of Education, coached football at Calhoun County Training School, and served as a principal at Thank- ful Elementary School. He was a Life Member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. A member in good standing of the Anniston Piedmont Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. since November 26, 1986, he served in many capacities, none more notably than as its Keeper of Exchequer. He was also a dedicated member of the Chapter’s Board of Directors. He was selfless. His fraternal spirit was unifying. He embod- ied brotherly love. Brother Marshall’s favorite pastimes included fishing, going to car shows, watching old moves—Big Valley, Walton’s, Long Ranger and Raw- hide—and traveling. Harvey traveled on

Dr. William (Bill) Meharry My- ers entered the Chapter Invisible on February 16, 2019 at age of 99 in Bradenton, FL. William Myers was a 1939 initiate

of the West Virginia State University Chapter, the Tau of Kappa Alpha Psi®. Born December 18, 1919 in Ander- son, IN, Myers earned a B.S. degree in education and mathematics from West Virginia State University in 1942. Later in 1942, Myers joined the military where he also attended the University of Wyo- ming and Officer Candidate School in Fort Belvoir, VA. He served in Okinawa, Japan during WWII and was honorably discharged from the United States Army in 1946. Myers earned his Doctor of Surgical Chiropody (Podiatry) degree in 1948 from the Ohio College of Chiropody in Cleveland, OH. After receiving his podiatric degree, he also received a com- mission from the United States Medi- cal Corps as Lieutenant in the inactive reserve. He was a mathematician at Wright Patterson Air Force Base while building his podiatry practice. Myers also pursued entrepreneurial interests. He was the owner and operator of other businesses: Kinder Kastle Day Nursery, Farm-Dell Nightclub, and Top Hat Sup- per Club.
