1. INTRODUCTION 1.1.

SCL Group is committed to providing a comprehensive programme of Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) for all learners across its divisions: SCL College, SCL Core Skills, SCL Pro (Apprenticeships), and ASF . Statutory duties apply to learners aged 16 to 18, and to those up to the age of 25 who hold an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). SCL Group to fully meets these duties and in line with our values and commitment to best practice, extends CEIAG provision to all learners, including those in adult education and higher education, where appropriate.

1.2.

aim

1.3.

We recognise that the provision of high

-quality, impartial and independent

career guidance is critical to raising aspirations, promoting equality of opportunity, and enabling equal access to education, training, and employment pathways.

1.4.

Effective CEIAG supports learners to make well

-informed decisions,

achieve successful transitions, and progress into further study, apprenticeships, higher education, or sustained employment.

1.5.

This policy sets out SCL Group’s approach to CEIAG, how statutory duties are met, how national frameworks are implemented, and how learners are equipped with the skills, knowledge and confidence required to succeed in a rapidly changing labour market.

2. INTENT AND FRAMEWORK SCL Group’s CEIAG provision aims to

2.1

Equip learners with the knowledge, skills, experiences and awareness of opportunities needed to plan and manage their future career pathways.

2.2

Provide impartial, high -quality and timely guidance that empowers learners to make informed decisions at key transition points.

2.3

Support the aspirations of all learners in progressing to further education, higher education, apprenticeships, training or employment.

SCL EDUCATION GROUP

5

2.4

Embed career -related learning within all programmes to demonstrate the relevance of skills and knowledge to future pathways.

2.5

Promote equality of opportunity by challenging stereotypes, raising aspirations, and celebrating diversity.

2.6

Ensure that learners with SEND and

those that learners that are ‘at risk’

such as care leavers

, free school meals and young carers have equal access

to tailored, high -quality support.

2.7

This commitment is underpinned by the following frameworks and standards: • Department for Education statutory guidance: Careers guidance and access for education and training providers (updated May 2025). • Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance (updated framework, effective September 2025). • Provider Access Legislation (PAL, 2023). • Ofsted Education Inspection Framework (EIF) • The Matrix Standard • Career Development Institute (CDI) Code of Ethics.

3. SCOPE 3.1.

This policy applies directly to learners aged 16 to 18, and to those up to age 25 with an EHCP, in line with statutory requirements .

3.2.

SCL Group is committed to extending the same principles of impartial, high -quality CEIAG to all learners, including adult education and higher education provision, where appropriate.

3.3.

This policy therefore applies to:

Learners enrolled on SCL programmes.

• SCL staff, including teaching staff, support staff and senior leaders. • Parents and carers who support learners’ career decisions. • External partners including employers, apprenticeship providers, universities, and careers organisations .

4. THE GATBSY BENCHMARKS 4.1

SCL Group is committed to implementing the eight Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance and aim where

appropriate to deliver them across

all divisions.

4.2

SCL Group is committed to delivering high

-quality Careers Education,

Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) that meets the needs of all learners across its divisions. In line with statutory requirements, we will implement the eight Gatsby Benchmarks of G ood Career Guidance for learners aged 16 –18 and those up to the age of 25 with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP).

4.3

We also recognise the value of extending these principles of best practice to those on apprenticeship programmes and adult skills provision, where appropriate and meaningful. This ensures that all learners, regardless of age or pathway, have opportunities to develop their career management skills, make informed choices, and progress successfully into furt

her

learning or employment.

4.4

While the structure and emphasis may vary, all programmes

(where

appropriate) will be underpinned by the Gatsby Benchmarks, ensuring a coherent and consistent approach across the Group. Please see Appendix 1 for a general overview of how the Gatsby Benchmarks will be applied and what we aim to achieve.

5. ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 5.1
