CEIAG Policy | 23-24

INTRODUCTION

SCL Group are committed to providing high-quality careers education, information, advice, and guidance (CEIAG) to all our learners. This includes learners accessing Study Programmes, Apprenticeships, and Adult Learning programmes. Recipients of CEIAG may include parents/carers/guardians in the making of informed decisions for those learners who need additional support. SCL Group believe that effective CEIAG is essential in preparing individuals for successful transitions into further education, employment, or training. As an Independent Training Provider, SCL Group is not required to adhere to the Gatsby Benchmarks. However, SCL Group has aligned this policy to the benchmarks which outlines our commitment to delivering comprehensive CEIAG to learners, ensuring they have the necessary support to make informed decisions about their future.

INTENT

SCL Group are dedicated to providing a high-quality CEIAG provision that equips learners with the skills, knowledge, and guidance they need to make informed decisions about their future careers. SCL Group aim to support the aspirations of learners and contribute to their successful transition into further education, employment, or training. SCL Group believe it is vital that good career guidance is embedded in education and learning, so that young people will be better equipped to take their next step.

GATSBY BENCHMARKS

In 2013, Gatsby commissioned Sir John Holman to set out what career guidance in England would be like if it were to be as good as international standards. The eight Gatsby Benchmarks defined in Good Career Guidance report. serve as a framework for world-class careers provision and have been adopted as part of the Government's Careers Strategy, statutory guidance for schools and guidance for colleges. In addition, The Careers & Enterprise Company now supports the implementation of the Benchmarks in schools and colleges with a national network of support, resources and targeted funding.

The eight Gatsby Benchmarks of Good Career Guidance are: 1. A stable careers programme 2. Learning from career and labour market information

3. Addressing the needs of each pupil 4. Linking curriculum learning to careers 5. Encounters with employers and employees 6. Experiences of workplaces 7. Encounters with further and higher education 8. Personal guidance

A stable careers programme SCL Group will establish a stable careers programme that is embedded within our curriculum and supports the needs of learners. This programme will be regularly reviewed and updated to remain current, relevant and align to emerging career opportunities. SCL will internally review their offer utilising anonymous feedback from recipients – learners, parents, and staff. SCL will monitor and evaluate that it meets external agencies requirements or guidance such as Ofsted, Matrix, etc. Learning from career and labour market information SCL Group will provide access to up-to-date, impartial career and labour market information (LMI) to enable recipients (learners, parents, Apprentices) to access good quality information about future options to make informed decisions about their future and labour market opportunities. Where learners may require extra support particularly under 18s, SCL would encourage parents/carers/guardians to access and use the information to assist in making informed decisions. This information will be regularly updated and available in various formats, including digital resources and /or from guest speakers from relevant industry sectors. Addressing the needs of each pupil SCL Group recognises that each learner has unique aspirations, interests, and needs. SCL Group will aim to provide personalised CEIAG support to help learners explore their individual career goals and understand the pathways available to them. SCL will endeavour to challenge stereotypical thinking and raise aspirations through the CEIAG provision. Our dedicated Level 6 Careers Development Professional will be available to offer one-on- one guidance and support to learners as they navigate their career choices. SCL will keep systematic records of the individual advice given to each learner, and subsequent agreed decisions.

Learners will be able to access to these records to support their career development.

SCL will collect and maintain accurate data for learners on their education, training or employment destinations.

Linking curriculum learning to careers SCL Group aim to actively connect curriculum learning with real-world careers, highlighting the relevance and application of skills and knowledge acquired through our programmes. This will be achieved through incorporating visits, work experience opportunities, and guest speakers into our curriculum to provide learners with first-hand experiences of various career pathways, learning how to be more effective workers within, a wide range of careers. Encounters with employers and employees SCL Group will facilitate meaningful encounters between learners and employers, as well as employees from different sectors. Through networking events, workshops, and mentoring programmes, learners will have the opportunity to engage with professionals, gain insights into different industries, and develop their understanding of the world of work and what it takes to be successful in the workplace. Experiences of workplaces SCL Group strive to provide learners with meaningful experiences of the workplace, including work shadowing, work experience, and volunteering opportunities. These experiences will enable learners to develop essential employability skills, gain exposure to different work environments, expand their networks and make informed decisions about their future career paths. Encounters with further and higher education SCL Group actively promote and facilitate encounters with further and higher education institutions to ensure that learners are aware of the range of educational opportunities including academic and vocational routes available to them. SCL Group aim to organise college and university visits and/or invite guest speakers from educational institutions and provide guidance on the application processes to support learners in their transition to higher education, if desired.
