• Maintain an electronic environmental management system. Undertake environmental audits, develop/ update procedures and keep records to maintain accreditation to the ISO14001 standard. • Progress the Sustainability Action Plans and provide expertise to the Sustainability Implementation Groups including but not limited to: procurement, travel, waste, water, finance, carbon management (all scopes), construction, I&TS, residences. Awareness of biodiversity and energy management issues would be helpful. • Compile resources and materials to feed into the sustainability sections of project business cases including expert knowledge and advice, examples of best practice within the sector and guidance on holistic approaches. • Work closely with departmental colleagues at all levels to plan, agree, communicate and undertake changes to University policies and processes, to meet sustainability objectives whilst respecting delivery of core business. • Improve sustainability related monitoring, in agreement with relevant staff and provide guidance and support to ensure that relevant staff submit regular quarterly progress reports to respond to both external and internal benchmarks to ensure current status is known and clearly communicated and to track progress on meeting targets. • Provide timely responses to requests for information (under FOi as a priority) and provide assurance to external stakeholders of systematic approach to compliance. • Develop, instigate and lead the development of an annual schedule of work to deliver improvements and demonstrate a high level of performance in relation to embedding sustainability in operations across the institution (refer to the Sustainability Strategy for key areas). • Prepare relevant data on sustainability in operations for annual benchmarking, both internally and externally, including headline data and supporting background information and disseminate widely both internally and externally, with a view to informing stakeholders and ensuring they know how their work can contribute to meeting sustainability targets. • Create and deliver a strategy to develop the sustainability and ethics skills and practice of departmental and KUSCO colleagues who are engaged in operational delivery. • Design and deliver general and targeted high quality development opportunities and training sessions, to a range of stakeholders including contractors and suppliers. • Contribute in your specialist areas to the achievement of objectives (refer to the Sustainability Strategy for key areas which are not limited to construction, IS, procurement, carbon reduction, laboratories, waste, water etc).
