Lalonde also faces a charge of counsel- ling to commit breach of trust. Following a phone request to his Rockland office for comment, Lalonde’s legal representative, Marie Henein of Henein Hutchison in To- ronto, issued a press release regarding the matter. “Stéphane Lalonde is a respected mem- ber of the legal profession who has served his clients and his community,” states the press release. “He has cooperated with the investigation by the OPP and is shocked to find himself facing these charges. He will defend himself fully. We look forward to the opportunity to have a court consider all the facts, not merely that which has been selec- tively released. Because the matter is now before the Courts neither I nor Mr. Lalonde will make any further comment.” Mayor Marcel Guibord and Coun. Diane Choinière also face breach of trust charges.
