University of Leicester - Director of Estates & Campus Servi

A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT AND VICE-CHANCELLOR, PROFESSOR PAUL BOYLE Welcome

Thank you for your interest in the role of Director of Estates and Campus Services at the University of Leicester. We are the University that discovered DNA fingerprinting, found Richard III under a car park, and turned Larkin into a Librarian. Now we are looking for the person who can lead the development and implementation of our Estates Strategy to preserve the special character of our University, while transforming the facilities to deliver a welcoming and cohesive campus experience.

We are passionate about empowering people to question, and to explore; making a significant social, economic and cultural difference in the world. We are successful because we are passionate about our work and because we engender a vibrant, tolerant and accessible intellectual community. We are consistently one of the most socially inclusive of the UK’s leading universities with a long-standing commitment to providing fairer and equal access to higher education. Although our progress over recent years has been significant, we have no interest in standing on our laurels. Our new Strategic Plan reflects our ambition to raise the University’s profile; building on our contribution at a regional, national and international stage through the excellence of our research and teaching. The strength of our research will be underpinned by the development of

Our city is recognised as one of the most vibrant and creative communities in Britain. From our recent premiership win, to our annual Diwali celebrations – one of the largest outside India – Leicester has a fantastic community spirit and there really is something for everyone to enjoy. With the discovery of Richard III bringing almost £60 million to Leicester’s economy and our continued partnership with the National Space Centre – one of the UK’s largest visitor attractions devoted to space science and astronomy – the University is proud to be part of Leicester’s success. There has never been a better time to join the University, or to work in our city. Since taking up my position in October 2014, I have challenged the University community to build on our platform of achievement. A belief in discovery- led education, and in the synergy of teaching and research are our hallmarks.
