The Glengarry Pioneer Museum is set to launch its 51st year as guardian of the heri- tage of Glengarry with a new structure to be unveiled at their Annual General Meet- ing and potluck supper to be held on Friday evening, April 19, at the Recreation Hall in Dunvegan. “The Museum has played a vital role in capturing and presenting the history of Glengarry County, one of the two oldest counties in Upper Canada,” says chair Karen Davison-Wood. “We are proud of how we have grown and matured to the point that we are recognized for the extent and quality of our heritage collection and its manage- ment. For the past 50 years, we have been under the umbrella of the Glengarry Historical Society. Now we are about to embark on a new challenge with our own incorporated structure, while still working closely with the Historical Society.” The evening begins at 6 p.m. with a potluck supper. the fields that provide food for animals and people, the plant life, the meadows, the or- chards, the forests and the wetlands giving space for birds, insects and other wildlife. These interrelations support a healthy farm capable of producing quality, health-giving products. Farm balance and health are further en- couraged by the use of biodynamic com- post preparations and field sprays. These special preparations are made on the farm from common medicinal herbs and animal sheaths. They help the soil and plants to relate to the form-giving forces behind na- ture. In 2011 biodynamic techniques were used on 143,000 hectares in 47 countries.
