ST. ANDREW’S | The wild, wonderful and at times, very wet annual Raisin River Ca- noe Race is set for April 14. The longest canoe race in eastern On- tario begins at St. Andrews West at 10:30 a.m. and ends at Williamstown. Hundreds of paddlers will guide canoes and kayaks along the 35-kilometre route as large crowds of spectators cheer them on. Registration will take place at the St. An- drews Catholic School from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. The cost to participate in the event is $35 per craft. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mrs. Evelyn Sassen on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at the age of 79. She is survived by her loving husband Jim, her children Paul, Julia, Elaine, Mark and Marianne and by her grandchildren Katherine, Emily, Thomas, Anna and Matthew. She will also be missed by her sisters and brother Joan, Joyce, Jimmy, Roseanne and Lona. May she rest in peace with her parents Samuella Filoon and James Welden, her sister Shirley and her brother John. The song is ended, but the melody lingers on... On Saturday, April 6, 2013, we have celebrated her long and eventful life at St.Aidan’s Church, 86 Louisa Road, Wentworth, Quebec J0V 1K0. Déjà un an! Pour nous, c’est comme si tu nous avais quittés hier pour cette nouvelle vie. Ce repos tu l’as bien mérité, mais pour nous qui t’aimons, cela est arrivé trop vite. Ton visage, ta voix et ton sourire sont gravés à jamais dans nos cœurs. Nous te demandons de continuer à veiller sur nous, de là-haut, tout comme tu le faisais si bien sur cette terre.
