ROCKLAND | While she waits for her court trail appearance next year, Coun. Diane Choinière will still have work to do for her constituents and the City of Clarence- Rockland. Mayor-elect Guy Desjardins has no inten- tion of isolating the Bourget ward council- lor from council business. Desjardins con- $rmed during an interview last Thursday that he will make sure she has committee work and other duties to occupy her just like any other member of council. “She will get a committee (to chair),” Des- jardins said. “She was elected and we will not ignore the democratic choice of the vot- ers.” Choinière, along with outgoing-mayor Marcel Guibord and councillor Guy Félio, faces a charge of breach of trust. The charge resulted from an OPP investigation of a se- ries of emails exchanged between the three and local lawyer and developer Stéphane J. Lalonde soon after the 2010 civic election. Lalonde is also charged with breach of trust and with counselling to commit breach of trust in connection to the OPP investiga- tion. The case is now scheduled for trial dur-
VINETTE / BRISEBOIS Maurice Vinette, fils d’Albert Vinette et d’Irène Henri, naît à Clarence Creek, le 16 novembre 1927. Son primaire terminé à la petite école n 3, il complète ses études secondaires au collège d’Embrun et termine au petit séminaire à Ottawa. Son père, propriétaire d’un commerce de blocs de ciment, apprécie l’aide de Maurice. Cependant, ce travail exige beaucoup d’énergie pour un petit homme comme Maurice. Il trouve un emploi chez Bélisle Automobile, poste qu’il occupe durant plusieurs années. À ce moment-là, Maurice courtise Thérèse Brisebois, fille de Philias Brisebois et de Laurencia Lamoureux, née le 17 avril 1940. Au cours d’un voyage à Montréal pour visiter l’expo internationale, Maurice entend parler que la compagnie Canadair embauche du personnel; le salaire est alléchant, d’autant plus qu’il songe à fonder un foyer. Il réussit à décrocher un emploi. Thérèse et Maurice unissent leur destinée le 12 octobre 1968 et élisent domicile à Montréal. Thérèse n’a aucun problème à se dénicher un emploi à Bell Canada car elle possède l’expérience dans ce domaine. Leur fils Claude naît à Montréal, le 6 octobre 1970. Lorsque Canadair ferme ses portes, Maurice trouve un emploi à laMonnaie Royale à Ottawa.

Félio declined to run for re- election asWard 5 councillor, while Guibord lost his re-election bid to Desjardins, who gave up his Ward 6 seat to mount a mayoral challenge this year. Desjardins said Choinière will have the same duties as any other councillor during her second term in o"ce. “Wewill workwith her like any other coun- cillor,”he said. “I said (during campaign) that I would bring accord back to council.”
Tourism group convenes Tourisme Prescott-Russell Tourism combines a workshop session for local entrepre- neurs with its annual general meeting Nov. 20 in Hawkesbury. It will be the third anni- versary for the regional tourism promotion and development group. This year’s annual general meeting includes presentation of an updated strategic plan for tourism de- velopment in the Prescott-Russell region covering the $scal period from 2015 to 2018.
Claude complète son primaire et secondaire à Rockland et suit un cours en techniques policières au Collège Algonquin. Il obtient un emploi comme agent de sécurité à la Chambre des Communes au Parlement d’Ottawa. Marié à Anita Filion, fille de Jacques Filion et de Denise Derouin, le couple a deux enfants, Gabrielle, née le 12 juin 2000 et Alexandre, né le 29 mars 2002. Maurice et Thérèse jouissent de voir leur progéniture s’épanouir. À sa retraite, Thérèse se découvre un talent de couturière et aide ses amies dans les retouches de leurs vêtements. Maurice combat un cancer et décède le 10 novembre 2005. Il repose au cimetière de Clarence Creek.
