The Love of Teamwork Feature Article About 3 years ago, our family got the idea that we wanted to go on a great adventure - something physical, something challenging. Something that would test our wills… our mental and physical strength. We knew about the Appalachian Trail, but none of us had every really hiked anything like it before. We were not avid hikers or campers to say the least. However, it sounded adequately adventurous for our crew and so we started making the plans. We researched online, read books and even went to the local Bill Jackson’s Shop For Adventure. We bought camping gear, hiking shoes, and made plans for the food and snacks that we’d bring. Finally, the time came and we left Clearwater on aThursday afternoon. Our group was 8 people strong. We had two SUVs loaded down and took turns driving through the night. We arrived in North Georgia Friday morning and, by mid-day, we were all standing at the edge of Springer Mountain. This is where our 3 day, 2 night journey through the unknown would begin. There was a buzz of excitement in the cool mountain air. We took a quick group photo and then fell into a single line, marching one behind the other. The nature surrounding us was breathtaking and one couldn’t help but expect that this was going to be an experience of a lifetime.
