Traffic hazard call

Russell County OPP have two drug cases to process following raids in Embrun and Limoges last week. Michel Beauregard, 40, and Christopher Joseph, 30, both of Embrun, face drug-traf- ficking charges. Beauregard is also charged with possession of the proceeds of crime. The charges resulted from a police raid on a house in Embrun on April 28. During the raid, police seizedmore than $2,000 in cash and a quantity of marijuana and metham- phetamine. The two are scheduled for the June 4 provincial court session in L’Orignal on the charges. Over the first weekend of May, the Project Paradigm team of regional police and drug enforcement units in Eastern Ontario exe- cuted a search warrant against two people in Limoges. The May 2 raid resulted in the seizure of 148 marijuana plants, with an estimated street value of $50,000. Police also seized a quantity of dried marijuana and some grow-operation equipment. Honor Driscoll, 31, and Marcel Bisso- nette, 50, both of Limoges, were arrested as a result of the investigation. Both are charged with possession of and production of mari- juana. They were released on a promise to appear and are scheduled for the June 24 provincial court session in L’Orignal. Suspect flees Russell County OPP had to call in the K-9 unit to help track down aman who fled into the bush after the vehicle he was riding in was stopped on Ste-Marie Road in Embrun early in the morning April 28. At 7 a.m. that morning, an OPP patrol noted a vehicle southbound on the road. When the officer pulled the vehicle over on suspicion the vehicle was stolen, theman on the passenger side fled into the nearby bush. The woman was arrested on a charge of possession of stolen property. The K-9 Unit and Emergency Response Team were both called to the scene to help track down the other suspect. He was later found and arrested that night. Investigation continues in the case. Impaired driving LisaM. L. Michel Bouasria, 60, of Verdun, QC, was charged with impaired driving, driving with a blood-alcohol content exceeding 80 mil- ligrams, and with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. He is scheduled for the May 20 provincial court session in L’Orignal. Domestic mischief A 54-year-old Limoges man learned the hard way to stay out of the house when he is not welcome. Police received a complaint May 3 about a domestic disturbance incident on Mabel Street in Limoges. The woman who filed the complaint told police that her partner forced his way into the house even after he was told he was not welcome. She told police the door was damaged as a result. The man, his name not released in the police brief, is charged with domestic mis- chief and scheduled for the May 20 provin- cial court session in L’Orignal.

A traffic hazard complaint on Highway 417 near Casselman on April 30 ended with impaired driving and other charges against a Québec man. Police received calls about a vehicle seen stopped on the highway in a way that put other drivers at risk. A highway patrol duo arrived at the scene and found the driver of the stopped vehicle asleep behind the wheel. After waking the driver up and talking to him, the officers noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath.
