JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose To work with the University’s Senior Mechanical Engineer on a wide range of capital development and maintenance upgrade schemes within the Estate Development Team. To manage the Mechanical Building Service elements of schemes generally ranging in value from £10k to in excess of £50m that require the co-ordination of the inputs of the Estates department, University Stakeholders and designers and external consultants. To carry out the design and prepare specifications for selected projects. The Post holder will provide a complete Project Management Service from inception to handover for Mechanical Building Service projects, including adaptations, renovations and new build from around £10k up to around £1m. The post holder will be expected to take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of such projects. To be responsible for advising the University on all aspects of mechanical engineering in relation to new capital works and alterations to existing building. Ensure sustainable, low carbon schemes are implemented and energy usage minimised by good design and installation practices. Inputting into the Softlandings process and co-ordinate building services handover to Maintenance and Operations on completion of commissioning new projects.
