4. MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

10. To set up and maintain procedures for controlling the standards of materials and workmanship on-site to ensure compliance with designs, drawings and specifications is delivered by contractors. This includes the on going monitoring of works as they proceed and the full testing and commissioning of work on completion. Ensure maintenance manuals, tests certificates and guarantees are adequate and that they are archived/passed to the appropriate parties together with ‘as built’ drawings and services diagrams, etc. 11. Input into project’s softlandings and liaise with our in-house CAD team to ensure service as built record drawings are correctly updated and uploaded on the University’s system. 12. To provide design briefs to external services consultancies and to monitor the progress and quality of the design and construction of such works through all stages of design and installation, to ensure compliance. 13. To produce estimates for new works and the replacement, adaptation and extension of existing installations and to negotiate final accounts and as and when required. 14. To act as a point of liaison regarding services work with Deans, Directors and other staff throughout the University and with external bodies in relation to all aspects of building services work. 15. To maintain all necessary records and archives as required by legislation, University policies and good practice. 16. To act as interface on services issues between the Estate Development Team and the Operation and Maintenance Team, working closely with the maintenance engineers to ensure that the design of new works is consistent with existing services infrastructure and considers future maintenance requirements and implications. 17. To liaise with the University’s energy management and environmental officers to establish good practice and improved long term value for money for the University in terms of services design. 18. To promote safe working methods, observe statutory regulations, codes of practice, CDM compliance and all matters relating to HASAW. Liaise with the Estates Health and Safety Team on all issues relevant to building services. 19. To keep up to date with relevant technical and regulatory developments relating to building services and to disseminate such information to others within the department and the University as appropriate.

Supervision Received The post holder reports to the Senior Mechanical Engineer (Estate Development) Supervision Given As may be required, supervise and oversee consultants employed by the department on relevant projects or part of projects.
