Les chercheurs ont besoin d’aide pour une étude sur la santé participent à l’étude, dispersés dans l’ouest du Québec et l’est de l’Ontario, et Dre Bail- lot a noté qu’il faut plus de 15 participants pour que les résultats aient une signification statistique plus importante. Plus la taille de l’échantillon est importante pour l’étude, plus l’information en résultant sera utile. L’étude porte sur les résidents franco- phones dans les deux régions. Les partici- pants doivent être âgés de 18 ans ou plus, maîtriser le français, avoir un poids supé- rieur à la moyenne pour leur âge et leur taille, et ne pas avoir subi de chirurgie de réduction de poids au cours des 12 der- niers mois. Quiconque a été forcé d’adopter temporairement un mode de vie sédentaire en raison d’une blessure ou d’une maladie n’est pas non plus admissible à faire partie de l’étude.

Un groupe de recherche de l’Université du Québec a besoin de bénévoles pour une étude sur les questions sociales entourant l’activité physique et sur la façon dont elle touche les personnes ayant un mode de vie sédentaire. « Ce que nous voulons savoir, c’est ce que les gens font pour l’activité physique, a déclaré Dre Aurélie Baillot, lors d’un entre- tien téléphonique. Que font-ils, qu’est-ce qu’ils veulent faire? » Dre Baillot est l’un des nombreux cher- cheurs engagés dans une étude sur l’obésité et l’activité physique, grâce à un partenariat entre l’Université du Québec et l’hôpital Montfort à Ottawa. Trente-cinq personnes
Ceux qui participeront à l’étude rece- vront 20 $ pour couvrir le coût des frais de stationnement et de l’essence lorsqu’ils vont à l’hôpital Montfort ou à l’Université du Qué- bec. À l’un ou l’autre endroit, les participants répondront à un questionnaire spécifique et effectueront un test de marche normal pour compléter leur part dans l’étude.
