The Community Center has had one of its busiest and most vibrant spring seasons in years—filled with music, storytelling, art, celebration, and community connection. Over the past few months, neighbors gathered for unforgettable concerts in the Valley Room and at Kate’s Café, inspiring book launches and author events fea- turing local writers and poets, and a sold-out “In Conversation” evening with acclaimed poet and author Javier Zamora in the Courtyard. We celebrated another joyful Howie’s Birthday Bash, learned from local youth and Next Gen leaders dur- ing ClimateFest, and welcomed hundreds of community members to the 36th Annual Spring Art Show—which many called the best one yet.

This summer, we’re excited to welcome back the McQuilkin Family Music Hour on June 21, along with the 4th Annual Valley Car Show on July 18 at the Woodacre Improvement Club.
Every month, Paul and Juliette Valente bring the community together for Kate’s Café Open Mic, a long-standing local favorite known for its warm atmosphere and thought- fully curated lineup of performers. Each gathering offers something new, blending beloved Kate’s Café regulars with first-time artists stepping into the spotlight. Named for folk icon and former Community Center Board Member Kate Wolf, Kate’s Café celebrates creativity in all its forms. Musicians, poets, comedians, writ- ers, and singer-songwriters of every experience level are invited to share their work. One night might feature a seasoned performer debuting new material, while another introduces an emerging artist whose song or story leaves a lasting impression. The evening reflects the spirit of small-town arts culture—welcoming, spontane- ous, and rich with talent and connection. Arrive early, settle in, and enjoy an inspiring mix of music, storytelling, and community that continues to make Kate’s Café a cherished Valley tradition. This Summer on Sunday June 21, 2026 the McQuilkin Family Music Hour returns to the San Geronimo Valley Community Center’s Courtyard. The Family Music Hour was created by Michael McQuilkin as a way to foster and continue the rich tradition of music in the San Geronimo Valley. The show is now in its FOURTEENTH year and continues to delight sold out crowds. All levels of performers are embraced and elevated by The Family Music Hour Band, creating an unforgettable experience.

Saturday, July 18, 2026 11:00 am - 3:00 pm 4th Annual Valley Car Show Woodacre Improvement Club This Summer marks the return of the 4th Annual Valley Car Show with some big changes this year!! The 4th Annual Valley Car Show is rolling into a brand-new location for 2026! Join us on Saturday, July 18, 2026, from 11:00 am to 3:00 pm at the Woodacre Improvement Club for a full day of classic cars, community spirit, live music, and family fun.
You’re invited to join us at Anny’s Sing Along : a campfire-style gathering in the Courtyard at the Community Center on the first Friday of each month from 7 - 8:30 pm . The Monthly Singalong where every voice is appreciated and welcomed as a necessary part of the chorus. Come with a friend or on your own and come as you are. The goal is to sing commonly known songs. Singers can join in on the chorus so no songbooks needed though folks are welcome to read words either from a songbook (e.g, Rise Up Singing) or on their phone. We sing everything from You Are My Sunshine & This Land is Your Land to Hey Jude, Hotel California, and Freight Train, with lots in between depending on what wants to come through. For sure some Kate Wolf too… Perhaps we shall sing a well-known, simple round, “Dona Nobis”, which means ‘Give us Peace.” Lifting our voices together in the songs of our common decades does just that, and in such an easeful way.
This year’s show promises something for everyone. Enjoy live music from Wreckless Strangers , sip local craft beer from Fairfax Brewing Company , and wines from JD Ranch and Vineyards . Delicious food vendors including oven baked pizzas from Toddd Baked Pizza and smash burgers from Ryan Troy’s infamous burger, along with Silver Shave Ice, a Family & Kids Activity Zone, a Raffle for a basket full of goodies for anyone who owns a car and more festivities throughout the day. Car enthusiasts can look forward to an impressive lineup of vehicles competing for Sponsor Choice Awards, selected by our event sponsors, as well as the coveted Valley Community–Voted Best in Show Award. Event Schedule 9:00–10:30 am – Car Show Registrant Check-In Trailered cars must be unloaded at the show site. FREE EVENT
Community Vocal Tapestry , a free monthly gathering led by Anny Owen Densmore and Kelly McMenimen from 7–8:30 pm will continue every second Friday of the month in the Courtyard. Rather than aiming to sound ‘good, the goal is for the sounds to ‘feel’ good. A clear, basic framework allows for feeling safe and free to make stuff up using simple interlocking and contrasting sounds, and more. Come out and play, add your voice in this magical realm!
