Thursday April 16, 2026 at 5:30 pm Howie’s Birthday at Giacos Valley Roadhouse We are excited to celebrate another trip around the Sun for our beloved Howie Cort! On Thursday April 16, 2026 at 5:30pm Howie’s Persuasion will Rock n Roll at Giaco’s Valley Roadhouse , for this annual benefit for Arts and Events program- ming at the San Geronimo Valley Community Center. Howie is bringing along the usual suspects Michael McQ, David Russ, John Cunningham, Rebecca Nowlen, Kira Thelin, and last but definitely not least Alexander McQuilkin. There will probably be a Buck Chavez and Giaco sight- ing and we are hoping Bonabelle’s mom Tealy Gapinsky, fresh off another hugely successful birthday bash out at Rancho Nicasio, will be joining the band for the evening too!! 4 generations of the Cort family will be in attendance and we are pumped to have the grand matriarchs of the family join us for the celebration!
Last year, after many years of the Community Center leading the charge, we decided to turn the show over to the kids and let them take the reins, as it should be! They created the show, hosted the show and helped produce the show and it was the biggest, most entertaining show since the return from Covid. So, they are doing it again and hope you will join the Lagunitas Community School and The Community Center in celebrating all the incredible Youth Talent that springs forth from our Valley. Dinner will be available for purchase (proceeds support the Community Center Youth Programming) and the Lagunitas 8th graders will host the Bake Sale to raise funds for their Civil Rights Field Trip this Spring.

On Thursday March 26 at 6:30pm Valley Arts and Lectures series will host author/activist Joel Eis in con- versation with Albert Flynn DeSilver. Eis claims to have become an activist “in utero” and his mothers refusal to cross a picket line when he was a child didn’t seem like a radical move, it’s just how he was raised. He says his life’s path was laid out, often, by circumstances out of his own control. In his own words Eis says, “Standin’ in a Hard Rain” draws on my knack for being in the right place at the right time. As a result of forces over which I had no control I was not only on the front lines and in the
streets, but in the room for planning some of the major events of the 1960’s.” Eis was present at many “inflection” points in the 60’s & 70’s. He was a part of the
