JOB DESCRIPTION Main Duties and Responsibilities
• To lead 6 to 10 EFM Project Managers and their associated multi-disciplined project teams in the development of University projects from inception to completion and operation; including the implementation and management of the RIBA plan of work and project governance gateway process; and the management of multiple Contractors, Consultants, service providers, Health & Safety i.e. the complete design, procure and construct process throughout all phases of development and operational commissioning / handover. Typical project values will be in the region of £50k up to (but not limited to) £90m. • To proactively ensure that the Health and Safety of all who may be affected by our undertakings is safe guarded, whilst seeking progressive and continuous improvement through active engagement and sharing of best practice, and personal promotion of a positive Health and Safety culture. • To ensure that the Head of Estates Development and all project stakeholders are fully briefed and their requirements are incorporated, where appropriate, in the specification for, and the development and implementation of project(s). • To ensure that the Project Management team follow (and continuously seek to improve) the BSEN ISO9001 registered management system. • To actively support the University’s carbon neutral targets through dedicated focus on negating embodied and operational carbon in our developments. • To ensure that regular reports are provided detailing the status of essential measures such as progress, costs and quality against agreed Key Performance Indicators. • To account, track and present all project costs and cash flow status on a monthly basis in line with the University financial reporting requirements and timescales. • To ensure the preparation and maintenance of comprehensive project and contractual documentation throughout the life of each project (inclusive of Post Occupancy Evaluations) and ensure that an auditable trail is always available. • To manage the commissioning process for building projects, including departmental / operational handover, landlord fit-out and occupation by the client group. Ensure that the required commissioning and handover documentation is prepared and presented on time, and on completion of each project, including Operation and Maintenance Manuals, Health and Safety Files, Log Books and User Guides.
• Representation and reporting at Department and University Governance groups.
