12. Employee Recognition

12.1 Introduction One of the greatest assets in your business is a group of employees with a good attitude and work ethic. Good employee retention builds customer satisfaction, lowers training costs, and helps a business run smoothly. It comes from carefully selecting employees, establishing clear boundaries and expectations for behavior, and creating a self- motivating atmosphere where employees feel important and are properly recognized. 12.2 Employee Recognition Take advantage of every opportunity to sincerely express appreciation to your employees. There are many things you can do to “reward” your employees for good performance and behavior. Often a sincere thank you is the most meaningful expression of your appreciation for their hard work but thank-you notes, a small box of chocolates, or a certificate for a free lunch or dinner are other ways to show your appreciation. Recognizing employees for their contributions should always be done publicly. It is important for others to observe and gives them an opportunity to aspire to the same type of recognition. 12.3 Employee Awards The MOLLY MAID home office has developed a service award program for franchise owners to help them recognize their employees. Recognition certificates can be ordered through the home office to honor employees for each year of service. Recognition pins, available through our logo supply vendor, can be awarded to recognize each year of service and are worn on the HSP uniform. Franchise owners should encourage their employees to wear these pins while working since it gives individual recognition. An award not only honors these HSPs for doing an outstanding job, but also serves as an incentive to other HSPs. Award certificates can be ordered by calling/emailing your operations team member at the home office. When ordering certificates and service pins, please allow a minimum of one week for them to be processed and mailed. Certificates will be sent from the home office via First Class mail. “Overnight” or “Express” shipping will be at the expense of the franchise owner. 12.4 Incentive Programs Incentive programs are an important part of any job. As a MOLLY MAID franchise owner, it is up to you to make MOLLY MAID the best place to work! A good start is to decide what type of action you want to reward, then set up a plan. There are programs that are simple and take little effort on your part, but some programs can be tedious and time consuming. REMEMBER to think about how your incentive program will affect your business as it grows.
