CEO MESSAGE

“Knowledge is power and is the only source of wisdom, comprehension, and achievement”

In all the roles I have played in my life, I have always believed in the power of knowledge. No one can perform their role diligently if there is a lack of knowledge. A doctor who lacks knowledge is unable to practice. A mother without knowledge cannot raise their children efficiently. A host without knowledge cannot entertain. In today’s world knowledge is the only way to achieve success. BGN was founded for sharing the best of knowledge on health, business, fitness, entrepreneurship, fashion, styling, politics, and sharing ideologies, and the November edition is being published in the same hope of adding to the knowledge of the readers on the aforementioned subjects. This November is about more than just sharing knowledge. This month is also about thanking your loved ones and about celebrating the triumph of light over darkness on the auspicious festival of Diwali. On the eve of Thanksgiving, I would like to thank the BGN readers and all associated partners. In addition, to commemorate the eve, we have allowed some lucky readers to have their thank you note for their loved ones featured in this month’s issue. We wish all our readers a pleasant reading experience. Hapy Thanksgiving and a Very Hapy and safe Diwali to you al To raise awareness on violence against women, UN observes International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25 November. Let's all be aware of this global scourge and work towards elimination of any sort of violence against women.

Triumph of Good over Evil Light over Darkness

Huma Kirmani An author, a TEDx speaker

The clear blue sky, air fills scent of flowers, life overwhelmed with colors of Rangoli, with every knock on ones ‘door, one expects the gifts and sweets from dear ones, passing on the fortunate smiles, putting on new apparels, to show our friends some style and decorating for them the thali. As the day proceeds, the twilight is enhanced with the light of the candles below, and the dazzling fireworks up above, the promising sounds of crackers. The homes are illumined with the lamps of hope and peace as paying more respects to the gods, and receive their unconditional love and this is what the occasion is all about the spirit of Diwali, for us, it is coming together to celebrate good over evil, return of light from darkness, celebrating the Hindu New Year and welcoming health, wealth, and prosperity in our homes. It is the beginning of everything good and new. Diwali is typically celebrated by socializing and exchanging gifts with family and friends. Many light oil lamps or candles to symbolize a victory of light over darkness, and fireworks are set off as part of the celebrations. Diwali, the festival of lights, marks the time when millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world celebrate the triumph of good over evil with beautiful rituals such as festive lights, fireworks, sweet delicacies and family gatherings. The word Diwali comes from the Sanskrit word “Deepavali”, which means “rows of lighted lamps”. Households across India celebrate by decorating their space with small lamps called diyas and other colorful lights. One of the most popular festivals of Hinduism, Diwali symbolizes the spiritual victory of light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Diwali is part of a five-day celebration that honors Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Celebrants light lamps, set off fireworks and gather with friends and family to exchange gifts and enjoy holiday meals together, honoring community and a new year.

Diwali is the five-day Festival of Lights, celebrated by millions of Hindus, Sikhs and Jains across the world. Diwali, which for some also coincide with harvest and New Year celebrations is a festival of new beginnings and the triumph of good over evil and light over darkness. The difference between Diwali and Deepavali is that Diwali is the five-day festival celebrated in mostly the north Indian states, whereas Deepavali is the four-day festival celebrated mostly in the south Indian states. In one of the main stories in Hindu mythology, Diwali is the day Lord Rama, his wife Sita Devi, and brother Lakshmana returned to their homeland after 14 years in exile. The villagers lit a path for Rama, who had defeated the demon king Ravana. After Lord Rama slew the demon, Lord Krishna declared it a day of festivities. Lakshmi Puja consists of a combined puja of five deities. Ganesha is worshipped at the beginning of every auspicious act as Vighneshvara; goddess Lakshmi is worshipped in her three forms; Mahalakshmi the goddess of wealth and money, Mahasaraswati the goddess of books and learning, and Mahakali. Each religion marks a different Diwali story and historical event. In one of the main stories in Hindu mythology, Diwali is the day Lord Rama, his wife Sita Devi and brother Lakshmana return to their homeland after 14 years in exile. The villagers lit a path for Rama, who had defeated the demon king Ravana. Reenactments of this story are part of celebrations in some regions. Another Diwali story in Hindu mythology is that Diwali marks the day Lord Krishna defeated the demon Narakasura and freed the people of his kingdom. After he slayed the demon, Lord Krishna declared it a day of festivities. In some parts of India, people burn effigies of the demon kings in both stories as part of the celebration.

36

Many consider Diwali to be a fresh start, people clean, renovate, decorate their homes and buy new clothes in preparation for the upcoming year. Diwali is also a time to settle debts and make peace. It’s common for people to reach out to loved ones who may have lost touch and organize family reunions. Indian and Pakistani soldiers have exchanged sweets along the disputed border, as a gesture of Diwali goodwill. The magical, lambent lights and flickering crackers of Diwali enlighten spiritually beyond the borders. May the festival of lights be the harbinger of joy and prosperity.

Tradition has it that the first Thanksgiving – a celebration of good harvest – took place in 1621, when English Pilgrims at Plymouth Plantation in Massachusetts shared a meal with their Native American neighbors

40

History of ThanksgivingDay A woman named Sarah Josepha Hale lobbied Congress for years to make Thanksgiving an official holiday. If it wasn't for this determined woman, Thanksgiving wouldn't exist today. Hale's allegiance to Thanksgiving began in 1827 and was based in national pride; she hoped to make it “permanently, an American custom and institution.” It wasn't until 1863 that President Lincoln finally declared Thanksgiving a national holiday. Seeing as the President did this in throws of the Civil War, Thanksgiving is considered by some to be an attempt on behalf of the president to bring some peace back to the country. Thanksgiving (United States) Thanksgiving is a federal holiday in the United States, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It is sometimes called American Thanksgiving (outside the United States) to distinguish it from the Canadian holiday of the same name. It originated as a harvest festival, and the centerpiece of Thanksgiving celebrations remains Thanksgiving dinner. The dinner traditionally consists of foods and dishes indigenous to the Americas, namely turkey, potatoes (usually mashed), stuffing, squash, corn (maize), green beans, cranberries (typically in sauce form), and pumpkin pie. Other Thanksgiving customs include charitable organizations offering Thanksgiving dinner for the poor, attending religious services, watching parades, and viewing football games. In American culture Thanksgiving is regarded as the beginning of the fall–winter holiday season, which includes Christmas and the New Year.. Music of the day "A Hymn of Thanksgiving" (1899), composed and written by Fanny J. Crosby and Ira D. Sankey. "Alice's Restaurant", a song by Arlo Guthrie on his 1967 album Alice's Restaurant, based on a true incident in his life that began on Thanksgiving Day, 1965.

ANSWER 02 The primary distinction between a cape and a poncho is their design. A cape is a long loose piece of clothing that fastens around your neck, drapes around your back, arms, and chest, and hangs from your shoulders, whereas a poncho is a single large sheet of fabric with a central opening for the head. Both the cape and the poncho are outer garments that can be worn in place of coats and jackets.

Why “Thanksgiving” is so important... Thanksgiving is important because it's a positive and secular holiday where we celebrate gratitude, something that we don't do enough of these days. It's also a celebration of the fall harvest. ... The celebration began with the Pilgrims, who in The annual feast is in honor of the “first” Thanksgivings in America, in 1619 in Virginia, and in 1621, when colonists in Plymouth, Massachusetts, later known as the Pilgrims, shared a meal with the Wampanoag Indians, who were native to the land. How to Teach Children the Meaning of Thanksgiving 1621 called it their “First Thanksgiving.” Americans celebrate Thanksgiving Day...

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!! Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

TANU VATSA AGGARWAL ARTICLE BY RESISTANCE TO CHANGE Resistance To change Awareness is the 1st step in healing/changing. In the past we unknowingly used this power to create the things we did not want to experience. Now we are aware & responsible. We use this power in +ve ways. We all have lessons to learn. The things which are difficult are the only lessons. Easy things are so because we already know. Awareness brings out non-verbal clues like; changing subject, leaving room, looking away. Assumptions: It’s useless etc. Beliefs: It is wrong. Them: They won’t like. God may not like. Self-Concepts : I am too old/young/tall/short/fat/thin/poor. Delaying: I will do later. Time is not right. I am busy. Denial; There is no need. Fear: I might fail. I am not good enough Leave Your Friends Alone: When something works well for us, we often want to share with others. But they may not be ready to make a change at that point in time & space. Such things may not work well for others. It is hard enough to change yourself. Trying to change others when they don’t want can ruin relationship. Mirror Work: Mirrors reflect feelings, shows resistance. Loud affirmations with mirror best. When affirmations don’t seem to work, we need to do another step before that. It has nothing to do with will power/discipline. Problem can’t just be solved by these. 1 st Affirmation: I am willing to release the need for resistance/ headache/constipation. Be gentle & patient with yourself. Love yourself. I am unworthy feeling creates procrastination: If you don’t feel good, how can you enjoy work? Then escapism is the only way. Resentment of Another’s Good: It is a barrier to our own growth and change. Self-worth opens many doors. New careers can start at any stage, especially if you do it for fun. Self-criticism is totally missing the mark. When we want to run away from –ve thoughts, we find unhealthy escape routes like overeating, or other over indulgence. Affirmation: I see any resistance pattern in me only as something else to release. They have no power over me. I approve and love myself. I am changing & & doing my best. Each day is easier. Today is wonderful day. I choose to make it so. .

52

HOWTO CHANGE?

Principles: Willingness, Nurturing, To let go. Controlling mind. Forgiveness for self and others. Sometimes, when you begin, things may worsen. But we must persist. Then you may realize after introspection that the real cause was something else. Exercise: Releasing the need. Do this with a partner, or in front of a mirror. Think what you want to change. Go to the mirror, look into the eyes, and say out loud, ‘I now realize that I created the condition, & I am willing to release the pattern in my consciousness that is responsible for this condition”. Say it several times, with feeling. It must be convincing. Don’t worry about how. God/Universe knows and helps you. Mind As a Tool : You are not what your mind tells you. It is just a tool which you can use the way you want. Even if the mind tells you ‘it is difficult/impossible’, due to past programming, tell it that ‘it is easy’. The only thing you ever have any control is your current thought. Your old thoughts are gone. Only experience remains. Mind protests violently any change. But if you stick to it, the mind accepts. Exercise; Letting Go; Meditate & relax. Then say, “I am willing to let go. I release. I let go. I release all tension/fear/anger/guilt/sadness. I release all old limitations. I let go. I am at peace with myself & the process of life. I am safe. Do it three times. Feel the ease. Physical Releasing : Experience & emotions can get locked in the body causing pain and discomfort. In a car, closed room/bathroom, screaming, beating bed, kicking pillows can release anger. Even running, tennis can help. It may tell you what you are angry about. Don’t let the past hold you back. Those who have hurt you are not even aware, they don’t care. Releasing: Release emotional attachment to memories. We can’t wear the clothes we used when we were 5 years, it is just a memory without emotion. Why can’t everything be like that. Forgiveness : It is the answer to almost everything. Love is always the answer to healing of any sort. And the pathway to love is forgiveness. It dissolves resentment. Exercise : Dissolving Resentment-Ernet Fox Method Sit quietly, close eyes. Relax. Imagine in a dark theatre with an illuminated stage. Place the person(past/present) whom you resent. Visualize good things happening to that person. See him smiling and happy. Then put yourself on the stage and imagine good things for you. Exercise : Forgiveness. Do it aloud when alone. Sit quietly, close eyes. ‘The person I need to forgive is-------- & I forgive you for ---------“. Do it several times. Do the same for yourself. “I forgive myself for---“. Do this for 5 minutes

ANSWER 03 The Versace logo depicts Medusa, a Greek mythological figure. The logo was inspired by the floor of ruins in the Reggio Calabria area where the Versace siblings used to play as children. Gianni Versace, the founder of Versace, chose Medusa as the logo because she made people fall in love with her and there was no turning back. He hoped that his company would have the same effect on people as his clothes and shoes did.

The United Nations General Assembly has designated November 25 as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women (Resolution 54/134).The premise of the day is to raise awareness of the fact that women around the world are subject to rape, domestic violence and other forms of violence; furthermore, one of the aims of the day is to highlight that the scale and true nature of the issue is often hidden. For 2014, the official Theme framed by the UN Secretary-General’s campaign UNiTE to End Violence against Women, is Orange your Neighborhood for 2018, the official theme is "Orange the World: #HearMeToo", for 2019 it is "Orange the World: Generation Equality Stands Against Rape" and for 2020 it is "Orange the World: Fund, Respond, Prevent, Collect!". The United Nations' (UN) International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women is an occasion for governments, international organizations and non-governmental organizations to raise public awareness of violence against women. It has been observed on November 25 each year since 2000. WHAT DO PEOPLE DO FOR THIS MISSION…? Various activities are arranged around the world to draw attention to the need for continuing action to eliminate violence against women, projects to enable women and their children to escape violence and campaigns to educate people about the consequences of violence against women. Locally, women's groups may organize rallies, communal meals, fundraising activities and present research on violence against women in their own communities. An ongoing campaign that people are encouraged to participate in, especially around this time of the year when awareness levels for the day are high, is the “Say NO to Violence Against Women campaign”. Through the campaign, anyone can add their name to a growing movement of people who speak out to put a halt to human rights violations against women.

INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE ELIMINATION OF VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN IS A GLOBAL OBSERVANCE AND NOT A PUBLIC HOLIDAY. HISTORY OF THE DAY START: On November 25, 1960, three sisters, Patria Mercedes Mirabel, Maria Argentina Minerva Mirabel and Antonia Maria Teresa Mirabel, were assassinated in the Dominican Republic on the orders of the Dominican ruler Rafael Trujillo. The Mirabel sisters fought hard to end Trujillo's dictatorship. Activists on women's rights have observed a day against violence on the anniversary of the deaths of these three women since 1981. On December 17, 1999, November 25 was designated as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women by the UN General Assembly. Each year observances around the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women concentrate on a particular theme, such as “Demanding Implementation, Challenging Obstacles” (2008). Events around the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women are coordinated by the United Nations Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM). The logo of this organization consists of "UNIFEM". The letters “U” and “N” are in blue and the letters “I”, “F”, “E” and “M” are in a darker shade of this color. An image of a dove surrounded by olive branches is to the right of the word. The image of the dove incorporates the International symbol for "woman" or "women". This is based on the symbol for the planet Venus and consists of a ring on top of a “plus” sign. MESSAGE OF THE UNITED NATIONS SECRETARY-GENERAL FOR 2011 Violence against women and girls takes many forms and is widespread throughout the globe. It includes rape, domestic violence, and harassment at work, abuse in school, female genital mutilation and sexual violence in armed conflicts. It is predominantly inflicted by men. Whether in developing or developed countries, the pervasiveness of this violence should shock us all. Violence – and in many cases the mere threat of it – is one of the most significant barriers to women’s full equality. The right of women and girls to live free of violence is inalienable and fundamental. It is enshrined in international human rights and humanitarian law. And it lies at the heart of my UNiTE to End Violence against Women campaign. Since its launch in 2008, the campaign has galvanized governments, civil society, the corporate sector, athletes, artists, women, men and young people around the world. The social mobilization platform “Say NO-UNiTE” has recorded more than 2 million activities worldwide – from protest marches to public awareness campaigns, from legislative advocacy to help for victims. Many of these activities have received support from the United Nations Trust Fund to End Violence against Women. Since it was founded 15 years ago, the Fund has delivered grants worth $77 million to 339 initiatives in 126 countries and territories. We would like the Fund to be able to do even more, but demand for support continues to outstrip resources. This year alone, the Fund has received more than 2,500 applications requesting nearly $1.2 billion. I appeal to all our partners to help us meet this vast unmet need. Our challenge is to ensure that the message of "zero tolerance" is heard far and wide. To do that, we must engage all of society – and especially young people. In particular, young men and boys must be encouraged to become the advocates we need. We need to promote healthy models of masculinity. Too many young men still grow up surrounded by outmoded male stereotypes. By talking to friends and peers about violence against women and girls, and by taking action to end it, they can help break the ingrained behavior of generations. On this International Day, I urge governments and partners around the world to harness the energy, ideas and leadership of young people to help us to end this pandemic of violence. Only then will we have a more just, peaceful and equitable world.

Postnatal supplements are defined as ingestible dietary supplements providing nutrients for postpartum mothers. Postnatal supplements claim to help with mood swings, nutrient depletion, breastfeeding, and increased energy demands. These supplements are a combination of minerals and vitamins, usually taken in the form of capsules, tablets, powders, liquids, and gummies. As per Verify Markets, the U.S. Postnatal Supplements Market was valued at $105.0 million in 2020 and is expected to reach revenues of over $150.0 million by 2027. The pandemic has resulted in increased health consciousness among vulnerable groups of new and expectant mothers. This increasing awareness is likely to drive growth for postnatal supplements. The U.S. postnatal supplements market is in its nascent stage, making consumer education a key factor in helping penetrate the market. Companies are utilizing social media platforms, influencer engagements, and sharing blogs on postnatal care to establish product understanding and trust among consumers. With rapid technology adoption, such as telemedicine, DNA testing, and smartwatch apps, consumers are increasingly gaining control of their own health data. This will likely drive demand for personalized supplements in the near future. An increasing number of new moms are sharing their postnatal health issues and experiences on social media platforms. Companies are educating women on postnatal nutrition and its benefits for new moms and babies through their social media handles and blogs. The majority of consumers typically struggle to name four or five brands of postnatal supplements and vitamins since it is not a heavily advertised category,” notes Shilpa Tiku, Chief Research Officer and Partner at verify Markets. Capsules were the most popular form factor in 2020 making up an estimated 50.0 percent of sales by revenue in 2020. Postnatal vitamins provide several essential vitamins and minerals some of which include – Vitamin D, Choline, DHA Omega-3, Iodine, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Folate, Magnesium, Iron, Biotin, Omega-3 DHA, and others.

Intermittent Fasting Benefits: periods to eat and fast. For instance, you might try eating only during an eight-hour period each day and fast for the remainder. There are many different kinds of intermittent fasting schedules. Intermittent fasting works by prolonging the period when your body has burned through the calories consumed during your last meal and begins burning fat. How does intermittent fasting work? There are several different ways to do intermittent fasting, but they are all based on choosing regular time

There are many diets that focus what you eat but intermittent fasting is all about when you eat. What can I eat while Intermittent Fasting? With intermittent fasting, you only eat during a specific time. During the times when you are not eating, water and zero-calorie beverages such as black coffee and tea are permitted. Also during your eating period, eating normally does not mean going crazy & eating. You will not loose weight most likely if you pack your feeding times with junk, high calorie & fried food items.
