Fuhr, disant que l’accord marque le passage du programme de radar transhorizon dans l’Arctique «à la phase de mise en œuvre». Le gouvernement canadien s’est engagé à consacrer 2,5 milliards $ à cette capacité dans le cadre de cet accord avec l’Australie. Le système radar sera implanté dans le sud de l’Ontario, sur deux sites d’émission et deux sites de réception. Notice of Study Commencement CNR / Hawkesbury Creek Overhead and CR 17 Underpass Replacements Detail Design And Class Environmental Assessment Study THE STUDY The Ontario Ministry of Transportation (MTO) has retained WSP Canada Inc. (WSP) to conduct the Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment Study (Class EA) for the replacement of the CNR/Hawkesbury Creek Overhead (Site No. 027X-0050/B0) and the County Road 17 Underpass at Highway 34 (Site No. 027X-0051/B0) in the Town of Hawkesbury/Champlain Township and the United Counties of Prescott and Russell. Both structures are nearing the end of their useful service life and require replacement. The Project location is shown in the key map below.
A Transportation Environmental Study Report (TESR) Addendum for the Preliminary Design was completed in 2025, which identified a technically preferred like-for-like replacement design that is consistent with the existing layout. The proposed works include the rapid replacement of both structures using accelerated bridge construction. Temporary road closures on County Road 17 and Highway 34 are required to facilitate the work. During these closures, traffic will be detoured. THE PROCESS This project is being carried out in accordance with the approved environmental planning process for Group ‘B’ projects under the MTO Class Environmental Assessment (Class EA) for Provincial Transportation Facilities (2000). As part of the Class EA process, interested parties are notified of the proposed works and have an opportunity to provide comments or request additional information. One Public Information Centre (PIC) is planned. Notices providing the time and location of the PIC will be advertised in local newspapers, on the project website, and sent to the project mailing list. A Design and Construction Report will be prepared and made available for a 30-day comment period at the completion of the Detail Design phase.
