TOURNOI DE BALLE DONNÉE DES COUGARS

Des centaines de joueurs et joueuses ont participé, en fin de semaine, au tournoi de balle donnée des Cougars de Vankleek Hill, afin d’amasser des fonds pour la saison de hockey qui approche. Plus de 200 personnes, regroupées en 18 équipes, ont participé au tournoi de balle donnée organisé par l’équipe junior C de Vankleek Hill. Chaque équipe devait payer 300$ pour s’inscrire au tournoi. Plusieurs joueurs de l’équipe ont pris part à l’évènement. Quelques anciens ont aussi arbitré le tournoi bénévolement. Hot-dogs, hamburgers, collations et breuvages étaient servis pour amasser des fonds. Les Cougars tiendront un tournoi de golf en septembre au Club de golf La Cité. La date précise reste à confirmer. Les essais pour l’équipe commencent habituellement à la fin aout. Cependant, la patinoire de Vankleek Hill sera fermée cette année. L’organisation est présentement en pour- parlers pour savoir s’ils pourront joueur leurs matchs à Hawkesbury. La Ville de Hawkesbury aurait donné sa parole à l’organisation pour l’utilisation de son aréna, mais aucune annonce officielle n’a été faite.

What’s more, don’t disturb or feed wild animals. Be civil Most hikers want to enjoy a quiet, peaceful atmosphere. Shouting or listening to loud music, for example, is rude and inappropriate. However, a friendly “hello”
or a smile is always appreciated. Additionally, don’t stop in the middle of a trail. You should also let fast walkers go around you and prioritize those climbing if you’re descending. Moreover, share the beautiful views by not spending too long taking pictures at scenic outlooks. Be prepared and careful If you’re not well prepared or don’t know your limits, you could put yourself in danger. Therefore, bring plenty of food and water, even on short walks. You could be outdoors much longer than anticipated if you get injured. You should also bring the right equipment like a good pair of shoes, a first aid kit and a whistle. Do you want to start inline skating? Before you hit the trails for the first time, here are a few tried-and-true tips to keep in mind. 1. CHOOSE YOUR SKATES WISELY If you want to enjoy the experience, it’s es- sential to have well-fitted, comfortable skates. You must also consider ankle sup- port, wheel material and size, attachment type and ventilation. Ask an expert to help you make an informed choice. 2. PROTECT YOURSELF Put your pride aside and wear full protective gear, including wrist, knee and elbow pads and a helmet. Remember, if you fall, you’ll do so from a significant height and likely at high speed.
3. LEARN THE BASICS Practice in a safe place and make sure you’ve mastered the basics before you roll away or venture into unfamiliar terrain. You don’t want to find yourself flying down a slope if you don’t know how to brake. 4. TAKE IT EASY Skating is a demanding sport. Therefore, your legs may tire quickly, especially when you’re first starting out. Don’t overdo it. Start with relatively short outings. For example, it’s better to turn around too early than too late on a linear track.

M. JEAN PAUL YEON d’Alfred (Ontario), décédé le mercredi 13 juillet 2022, à l’âge de 90 ans. Il était le tendre époux de Gisèle Carrière; le fils de feu Albert Yeon et de feu Alda Dauth; le cher père de Daniel (Dawn Gibbons), Christian (Martine Rhéaume) et Guylaine (Mario Hoffman); le grand-père adoré de Véronique, Patrick, Marc, Pierre, Louise et Myriam. Lui survivent également un frère Gaétan (Monique Lepage) ainsi que plusieurs beaux-frères, belles-sœurs, neveux, nièces, cousins et cousines. Il fut prédécédé par un frère René (Suzanne Leduc). Un service religieux aura lieu le samedi 10 septembre 2022, à 10h30, en l’église Saint-Victor à Alfred, suivi de l’inhumation au cimetière paroissial. La famille sera présente à l’église à compter de 9h30, afin de recevoir les condoléances. La famille tient à remercier sincèrement le personnel du Manoir Maxville et de l’Hôpital Glengarry Memorial, pour leur dévouement et leur compassion.
