T HE K I N G ’S B U S I N E S S tion asked where he could hear a good sermon. On his return from-the church, his friend afeked him, “How did you like the sermon?” “Not much, it was like a ship leaving for the whale fishing; ev erything ship-shape; anchors, cordage, sails and provisions all right, hut there were no harpoons on board”. Do you in your teaching and preaching use the harpoons of truth that pierce the en emies of our bodies, our souls, and our spirits? _ ■_ H ' • :■ .V ' ^ _ a Saul. T elling Others About Jesus. Acts 9 :19 -30 . Memory Verse. —“I am not ashamed of the Gospel.” Rom. 1:16. Approach. —How many of you boys and girls like to go down to the beach and spend your vacation? Now some of you went there and had a fine time, and some of you put on your BEGINNERS bathing suits and had AND PRIMARY just lots Of fun in the Mabel L. Merrill water. Now, Charles, suppose you were out inthe water and a great big breaker caught you and whirled you over and over until you just about thought yop. were drown ed, and then you found you were in pretty deep water and could not swim very well, and the tide was against you so you could not get back to shore, you would be somewhat scared, arid you would have a right to be scared. The others in the water heard you call for help but they did not dare risk trying to save you for it was rather dangerous. Now suppose a man on shore sees and hears you and even though it is a dan gerous risk for him to go out in the waves and try to bring you to shore against the breakers and tide, he throws off his outer clothes, dives into the wuter and swims out, and after a long, hard struggle, he brings you safe to shore. How would you feel toward this man who had saved you from drown ing? Would you be ashamed of him? No,
699 indeed! You would take him and intro duce him to your parents and friends and tell how he had saved your life. Prayer. Lesson Story. —We are going to hear another wonderful story about .Saul, or Paul, for after Saul was converted he was called Paul. Before we have the story, Louise, you tell us what happened to Paul as he travelled toward the city of Damascus, and Clarence, you see if she leaves out anything. That was fine, and you told it so well I just imagined I was a little' girl again, and you were the teacher. Perhaps some of you boys and girls will be teachers or preachers, or missionaries,- telling the wonderful story of Jesus to others who do not know Him as their Saviour. What a great change has come over Paul now that he knows Jesus. He stayed with, the people who loved Jesus in Damascus, and went into the churches, and preached about Christ to the’ people, telling them that he was th,e Son of God. The people who heard Paul were greatly surprised, and asked if this was not the same man who per secuted the people who believed on the name of Jesus? But the more Paul preached about Jesus being God’s Son, the more he loved Him, and he just could not help telling others about the one who had done so much for him. When Paul was, persecuting the people who loved Jesus, he was in a very dangerous place, but he did not know it then. His heart was full of hatred toward those who loved Jesus, and to hate the people who love Jesus, is really hating Jesus. Now since he loves Jesus his heart is filled with love, and he is happy in tell ing others of Jesus and His wonderful love! He was not ashamed of Jesus now, because he knows how wicked he had been, and he is showing how thankful he is to Jesus for saving him, by .telling others about Jesus. Our memory verse tells us how Paul felt. Let us learn it, and as we say the words, let us think and see if we too can say these words
